Becareful what you wish for.
Who is talking about crossing borders; maybe you've got it too. Just don't know it yet.
Maybe you're going to cross someone who has it and bring it back to your home town..... after all your visits to somewhere.
What about your neighbour heading out.... or watching you head out?
Calling people morons is unwelcome.

Re: Vic / NSW Border closes
Jon,
I AM self-isolating. We’ve cancelled a Neighbourhood Watch meeting because it’s held at a cafe where visitors to town may have brought the virus.
If I DO become infected, my GP is in Corowa... across the border. I now need a permit to see him.
When I need Oncology care, I have to cross the border to the REGIONAL Cancer Centre, part of Albury-Wodonga Health — or drive 350km to Royal Melbourne Hospital to an Oncologist unfamiliar with my history. And where the virus is rife in the community
Wife’s heart specialist is in Albury. If we can’t cross the border, she will have to travel 350km to Melbourne.
Do you understand that communities on the border regularly cross from one state to the other for treatment & other ordinary life reasons.
I don’t think you realise how frequently border crossing happens in ordinary times along the Murray. Or the NSW/Qld border for that matter.
If we’d bought a house 10km north of us, I could travel to any state I like.
Because I chose NOT to cross the border, I’m not allowed to leave Victoria. Despite the fact that there have been NO Covid cases in our area.

If a health emergency tell the 000 person the patient is unconscious you think it is a heart attack . Works very well. OR if you want extra fast service tell the 000 person there is a junkie overdose and it is unresponsive. zoom zoom. I am staying home for the next 12 mths hope the dunny paper and pasta doesn't run out

That's true, it isn't the families fault as they got tested before leaving. But because the stupid authorities can't get their act together, we have this situation and it is the politicians who make the decisions for lockdowns and who oversees them, no one else.jon_d wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 5:29 pmI read they told him, he was negative. So he and the family traveled in good faith.t's a wonder we all don't have the virus, considering the incompetent stupidly of the authorities. They let an entire planeload from Melb last night disembark in Sydney without any checks. Now they have discovered a member of a family who has been holidaying in Merimbula for a week, tested positive in Melb before leaving, but they didn't tell them. The family has toured the coast, including dining at the Tathra pub where there were 80 people eating. Now they may have to shut down Merimbula and maybe the entire Bega valley because of the gross incompetence of the pollies and bureaucrats.
Hate comes from those who attack individuals who point out the truth, logic comes from those who point out the reality of political and bureaucratic idiocy we see daily. You will always get idiots that flout the laws and regulations, surely the authorities have the brains to take these things into account and stop them before they do damage. If they can't, then these situations will continue to happen until there is no control because people will lose hope and then like in the USA, work against the regulations. We can see the outcome of that worldwide and proves how little many of the urban population can be trusted to act sensibly.

NP, is it the "political and bureaucratic idiocy" or "how little many of the urban population can be trusted to act sensibly" who are to blame?

George,
In every population sample there are outliers; people who think they can do it a little differently.
I refer you back to your recent fall and recovery.
Mind was saying it's ok, but the body reacted a little differently.

A combination of both I'd say George and to varying degrees, most people try to do the right thing, but as usual, we have those that flout regulations for some bizarre reasons. They are still trying to work out where most of the community transmissions came from, one look at the idiots at the "black lives matter" protests may give a clue. They are the type of fools who are so self-centered they don't give a stuff about anyone but themselves and would come from different areas of Melb. Some may have traveled from interstate or rural Vic to express their insane egos and 20 seconds of fame, then returned. We may see the results of this down the track, it looks to me like the infectious period is much longer than 14 days. Let's hope that's wrong and we don't see any spreading of infection.Newcastle George wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 7:48 am NP, is it the "political and bureaucratic idiocy" or "how little many of the urban population can be trusted to act sensibly" who are to blame?

One thing that most seem to ignore, they say the virus is easily absorbed into our eyes and yet many wear face masks, but no eye protection. So if it's in the air it could easily get into your eyes. I always wore sunglasses when we had the virus down here and still do even when it's cloudy after reading that, just hope the fools don't decide to open our borders to anyone until it is completely gone from Aus. That can only happen if they stop people entering the country, yet they are already working on plans to let overseas students back in. This to me is just insane as all they are thinking of is their economic bottom line, irrelevant to the long term outcome for everyone.

Some analysis being done on Sweden's data is showing that their approach of keeping things open has resulted in a similar economic downturn except with 3x higher death rate. This to me is just insane as all they are thinking of is their economic bottom line, irrelevant to the long term outcome for everyone.
On my previous comment about outliers; the underlying point being made is that all of us have probably stretched or broken the socialization boundaries recently - be it intentionally or unintentionally. There is no point calling people morons, idiots. We're all learning the new rules. Plus the gov'ts is learning how to manage the movements of 20 million people in a voluntary manner. (and as Bruce pointed out, with out triggering civil disobedience/unrest)
And before complaining about the government; consider how much difficultly you've had trying to organize something in your life. Maybe coordinating appointments, builders, gigs, a family dinner. It's much easier to complain about it than stepping up and doing it.
