Our tourist season runs from about now until after easter, but the big time is December to the end of February. I wouldn't take the Deloraine Bothwell route, unless you want a very scenic slow drive through mountains and lots of bends. Just follow the Midlands highway through Perth and turn off after Oatlands, through Campania. When you go through Campania, the first turn left will let you miss Richmond which is always full of touros and save you a few klms and is a lot quicker, with not much traffic. Just don't miss the turn off to Hobart when going from Devonport to Launceston, lots of people do and end up in Launie and then have to travel out again, which adds over 30klms to their trip.
