One question at a time please & once the person asking the question is happy with the answer they'll say "next question please" & anyone can chime in with the next question. (fun, fun, fun!)

What is this on the bus door for?

bus door002.jpg
This is the best pic I could do (I am not SteveW) so here goes The bus screen door has a wire connecting to the body of the bus. (It is broken) Has anyone else got or seen this before? or know why it is there.

It's metal.
Exposed metal in close proximity to electrical outlets needs to be earthed.

It is hard to get far enough away from electrical outlets in a motorhome so all exposed metal needs to be earthed.

It's an earth strap. Possibly for electrolysis reasons, or as Jim said, to comply with the electrical standards.

Thanks guys but If that is the case why do the windows not have these things on them as they are closer to power outlets? Bet not many people know about this one.

Has the door got plastic hinges?
Probably the windows don't.

Also, maybe it was giving static electricity shocks to people opening the door.
Earth strap would fix that too probably.

Yes the door has plastic hinges and No the windows don't.
We put the door in when the bus was being converted and we have never had any zaps from it. Have no idea how long the strap thingy has been broken either. :? :? Now if G joins the wire back together and I get zapped then I'll come a lookin for you boys..
