Are you on off peak hot water?

Yes George :)
Then why leave it on to partially reheat the water every day/night you are away?

We have a separate switch for the water heater.

Bernie it has been known to break the lead seal & flick the unit on to heat immediately.
Must be a SA thing perhaps?
We had two meters........ one for hot water & one for the rest.
The hot water one is via a time clock & is cheaper power.

Tariff 33 here Bruce for the hot water if you have a 200lt tank and separate meter .
But no seal , just turn it off and on and it will auto start here .
But you do live in SA so maybe different .

I always turn the electric hot water off. First bill at Taggerty was an eye opener. Since then, hot water is always oooffff.
