5th wheelers

Post by GoinBush »

I love the idea of one but looking at the huge things scares the bejeesus out of me

Has anyone towed one? Are they as frighteningly huge and cumbersome as they look?

Those things are the yank tanks of course they have to look big and domineering :) they are easier to hook up than a caravan for sure. :D

I've never towed one Janelle but from all accounts they are much easier to handle than a van, particularly while reversing.
Huge size range available from a smallish unit right up to the big boomers.
Speaking of big boomers, we parked under one at Eucla a few yr ago, yep, under one
We arrived at the park late with few spots left during a storm. We had our 10' Rr door windsor with no awning.
The ppl in a HUGE 5er told us to back up under the front of their 5er so we had some shelter getting in/out of the van. Nice ppl with a bluddy BIG 5er and F350 down from Qld.

Shoulda got some pics........... :|

Here's some links to Australian 5er builders you might find some answers in ;)

Go for the Trulux Aussie made one, my BIL makes the insulated material for them others import theirs :) Also Peter lets you go through their factory when ever you want to keep an eye on your rigs progress. Plus great people to deal with and great after sales service. Am I prejudice ? sure am  one of the so called aussie mob tried to pull a shonky with the insulation, he ended up in court and lost big time claimed my BIL supplied imported stuff,

Ask Pet-els, he had a bad experience taking one off road  but I think he is happy with the replacement.

I have always thought they were ugly, this bloody big thing reaching over the back of what seems a tiny ute.
Dunno what they are like to tow and do not want to.
Solicitor tells me the other party signed on Friday, settlement end of 22/2 then 60 days training, but I would hope they tell me to pistol off before then
