Squeaky dunny seat - at home.

A lot of us have homes we spend some time in. Discussions can be about any topic that may be of interest that you can think of... renovations, purchases, expenses, etc, etc

Squeaky dunny seat - at home.

Post by Chuck »

For the past couple of months the seat in the house toilet has developed a squeak, not when you sit on it but when us males lift the seat to express our opinion of current politicians!

It does the same thing when we gently lower the seat to keep the ladies happy.

Put up with it for a while then got the s**ts & sprayed the offending swivel area with... umm I think it was silicon.

That didn't do any bloody good at all so then a week or so later tried WD40.

Nope.

Still screeching.

If no forthcoming ideas rectum ... umm ... rectify the problem then a visit to the big green shed to replace it.

In the interest of public safety,it would be better to go to Bunnies and buy one of those self lowering seats,(SOFT SEATS)work well and don't squeak..

Or you could try a little spray of Inox. It has worked wonders on our squeaky shower door. Failing that, I can vouch for the success of those self lowering seats from the big green shed.

So long as you don’t croak while sitting on it...

Does the self lowering facility work on the seat as well as the lid...?

Only seen it being used with the lid. :?

Drill a 1/8"hole in the centre of the hinged part with the seat up so the hole will not be seen with the seat down, or you will be going to the big green shed sporting a thick ear for destroying a perfectly good toilet seat. Spray the lubricant into the hole and move it through by rapidly working the seat on the hinge and respraying until the squeak stops. Now, coat the seat area with Vaseline and wait for the response, that way when confronted with the sly dirty trick you can explain that you fixed the squeaky seat, it will never be noticed otherwise ;)
