It was on the cards to happen, just didn't expect it 6 mths after

Post by T1 Terry »

Went to the eye injection specialist on Friday for my regular needle in the eye. This one was a 6 week gap because he thought it was as good as it would get ....... I knew I was having trouble with my eyes for a few weeks and it was getting worse, so I just assumed the 6 weeks was maybe a bit too long. Did the eye sight test and ... well, it didn't go well.
Then the look at the eye images, left eye was a lot worse than the specialist had expected, the right eye was the bit that near knocked my off the treatment chair. Rapid onset wet macular degeneration in that eye as well. 6 weeks ago there was no sign, Friday it was as bad or worse than the left eye when I first attended the clinic.
Needles in both eyes on the one visit, no chance to think twice about it and a rather interest walk back to the car because I had been able to see through the right eye before so no need for a guide.
It will be interesting this week to find out if I can still continue doing the lithium installs and solar type work, I've handed all the circuit board work over to Margaret already because I just couldn't do it any more, not depth of vision meant a lot of soldering iron into the fingers and days to do what should have taken hrs. Now to see what I can do and what I have to teach Margaret or someone else to do for me ... and whether we can keep doing this or not I guess .......

Very sad to hear about your eye troubles, you've had so much to deal with, now this on top must have you feeling pretty down.

I wonder if you have thought of getting a bright young lad or lass as an apprentice?
Your knowledge and wisdom shouldn't be just left by the wayside.
So while you still can, it maybe a good option so as to keep the business going with you being the brains behind the installs etc.
Reckon it might be good for you and the business as a whole.
It would mean some changes though of course.

I reckon if someone had offered me an opportunity like that as a young bloke I would have taken it straight up.
Might be some government incentives these days as well...

Anyway, keep in mind you are a much loved bloke by all who know you well.
All the best,

Bernie

Bummer, T1.
Not good news, but I think Bernie has something.
Worth a try, if only to give you time to think & plan for the future.

Oh shit! So sorry to hear this Terry. Really really hope that it will be possible to come through this with some with more than seems possible right now but I can understand how awful it must be feeling for you & Margaret. Terry, you and others may laugh at this, but macular degeneration can be slowed and reversed to a good degree with natural methods. I know a couple of people who have the same condition as you and one stopped its progress returning some of their sight to usable levels after a year or so after the changed their lives. Started to see an improvement after about 2-3 months and from there it just got better they also got into a fitness regime because things like high blood pressure and bad blood circulation have a big bearing on the condition.

One refused to believe it was a lifestyle condition and is now completely sightless, they still refuse to believe the other one can still see and has pretty good vision, although nowhere near 20/20. He is so angry he has gone blind in his late 60's over just a few short years, but is so in denial will not do anything other than take the drugs the doctors give him which does nothing, doctors really don't have a clue about lifestyle diseases and how to reverse them.

The other one underwent a complete dietary change, giving away their heavy meat and dairy diet. Now their diet includes bilberries and Ginkgo Biloba. They eat loads of green veggies and drink Chrysanthemum flower tea and some other herb teas, think valerian and lemon verbena. Can get the diet they use for you if interested, the least it will do is make you feel heaps better and stop the degenerative progress.
