The important part is that it worked for you NP. My friend's wife went through the Peter Mc Callum system each time because she believed in that method and it has worked for her, so it really is a case by case thing. Some believe that deep meditation gets the mind and body in sync and have had amazing results that way as well, some are very religious and believe their god cured them, it doesn't matter as long as it works for the individual concerned.
Dottie put part of her arm on her tongue and part of her leg on her arm, just to confuse the crap out of the cancer maybe, but it has worked for her ... she has had a serious diet change as well, but that is more to do with putting part of her arm in her mouth ;) Lucky the didn't harvest the required flesh from her butt cheeks, that could have left a rather nasty taste in her mouth and brought the whole tongue kiss into a new set of worries

There is no one path for healing Terry, what works for one may not work for another. If it gets you there, then that's all that counts, if not then you change tack and take a different path.

The power of the mind is quite incredible, what they think is meditation, is really self-indulgence in my opinion, but it has worked for some so that's fine. The god nutters who believe their god has cured them, are also using the power of their minds, but in most cases, there are other reasons for their remissions. Yet without that belief, they may not have any mind power at all, pity it's been such a destructive belief throughout its history and continues so.

I have a friend who lost their sight in their 20's, they were very sad and depressed for a long while until they got with some other sightless people and they taught them many things. That happened when they were getting their first guide dog. Now she can tell who's coming well before they come into view, uses acoustics for navigation and has an incredible sense of smell and hearing. Many times have tried to trick her by sneaking around and speaking to others softly, but she always hears and feels the slightest movement. Quite a lady and I'm sure if you do end up in that situation, you will turn it around and use it to your advantage.

I wish you the best for your new future, not into birthdays, never had one but hope yours goes well. :)

Dot, I looked at the link, as I do with all links others put up and discovered I knew about it, but not the name FND. Because of my medical history and precarious health, I've done a lot of study on health, especially when I come across someone with a complaint I don't understand.

Knew someone who had the symptoms of the disorder and they couldn't determine what it was or how to treat it, other than with drugs. My approach was to look at it from a biological aspect and how the brain works, then apply it to the diet and lifestyle of the person, then work out how to correct the problem. It's a simple process which is in line and according to the known and accepted science, once you understand that science, you can apply it to the problem and most times find the cause and the relief.

I see medical science as amazing and what it offers us, should bring an end to most illness and negative outcomes for injury in a simple natural manner. I go to a doctor if I have a problem I don't understand, get it diagnosed then find the right approach to relieve and hopefully fix that problem. It's a very simple process and in my case works for body and mind.

Our brains work on chemical balance and electrical impulses, when we change the chemical balance and interfere with the electrical impulses, our brains misfunction. That's how I see FND, the brain's chemical and electrical systems are out of balance. In this day and age, pollution, chemically saturated foods, many containing some form of drug or synthetic additives, all have an effect upon our brains and bodies.

How did your friend overcome it.

NP My friend slowly lost his balance, could not drive speech was slurring and he also shook like Parkinson's, as he was an anaesthetist and always was on top of things medical he had been taking notes and obs every day and had it all in the form of grafts , due to his occupation he knows specialists world wide and one of his friends is a neurologist in Canada came to see him. All medical professionals were none the wiser, Sandy was at a regular check up and the Dr told him that there was nothing more they could think of but would he go and see Dr X, Well Sandy went to the appointment and after 5 hrs consult he went home and the next morning he thought he had died because he was walking and not shaking but as the day went on all his prev symptoms slowly decreased to the point he now has no carers (he had 2x 24/7) has his car licence back, talking as normal and is fully independent again. As it turns out all of his problems had been set in motion when he was a very young lad in boarding school and was badly bullied for years and some other crap I didn't want to go into detail. I have known Sandy for over 30 yrs and I never would of thought of him being bullied or anything like that. Amazing what the brain can do once you open your mind up or someone opens it for you. Probably not for everyone or every ailment but hey it has given my mates life back so good enough for me. There is one Dr that specialises in this weird ailment in SA and not many in Oz at all. Sandy didn't take any medications as he said until he knew what he had then drugs were not on the table.

Dot those symptoms remind me of some of the same symptoms that a few of my friends and I have encountered, which turned out to be severe PTSD, once the problem was understood they were coped with. Our minds are extremely powerful and complex, pity we don't have control of them fully. Maybe down the track, they will find a way to understand how the mind really works and how we can control and alter it to understand and remove these debilitating conditions. Nice that he found a way to overcome the repercussions of his childhood, wish I could.
