Look forward to you finding out Dot   guess people are very vulnerable at this time, I remember the funeral place trying to get us to choose a more expensive coffin when both Mum & Dad died & they were being cremated, they had paid into a funeral fund since I was a young kid & it still didn't cover the cost of the funerals. like over 40 yrs.

Bro-in-law, heavy smoker all his life, was diagnosed with lung cancer. (Surprise!!)
As he deteriorated he constantly told his wife, “You’re going to be a rich widow one day.”
She finally got sick of it, and called a funeral home to visit him at home.
He wanted no memorial service, so he was privately cremated. (Wife didn’t even attend!)
A few weeks later she hired a party boat, invited all their friends along and headed out into Western Port Bay, where they scattered his ashes at his favourite fishing spot.
Job done!

Ps. I discussed with my oncologist the possibility of leaving my body to RMH for cancer research. He said they already have more bodies in cold storage than they can use.
So it looks like I’ll be planted in the local cementery... not for quite a while, I hope!

I hope to be just scattered in the wind after cooking.

George, your family is suppose to seek permission these days to be scattered most places.

Neighbours family scattered the husband/father's ashes at a hilltop overlooking a northern beach, Sydney just as they were thrown into the air a strong breeze blew, they were covered in his ashes. :o

A couple of my ancestors were 'released' with the aid of an offshore wind from Plantation Hill, Bowen.
I first visited the spot back in the 80's. What a wonderful 360 degree view!

My X's ashes were put next to the burlie bucket as he said he wanted a groper to have a go at him, so he got his wish 40ks out from Kiatia NZ

In our opinion, funerals are just a cash cow for the companies. When we drop off the perch private cremation will be in order with no service. It will still cost $3000+ But I think that is small change compared to a full blown service.
