A very well set out scam, beware

If you hover over the "Cancel Payment" link in the actual email you get to see where the link really goes and this is the second give away.
This is probably the most authentic looking scam email I seen so far, so they are getting very good at it.
Be very careful about any email that asks for bank details and contact your bank directly to make sure it really is from them. I can see a lot of people getting caught with this one and those that will follow

Having had our cards compromised with a small ($35US) Walmart payment in Kentucky some years ago, we check our balances daily, so I doubt we'd be caught by this one, but it looks very authentic, dunnit?

When the Kentucky payment came through, our bank actually phoned us to see if we were travelling in USA, as our normal practice is to advise them if we'll be away, and where, so they will OK card transactions without query (unless it's a large sum). They ask all customers to do this.
Last year, had some work done in Strathmerton, 100km from home. Payment was $1200, and before we left the workshop my phone rang -- the bank, checking that it was a genuine transaction!
That's service! (And it wasn't one of the Big Four... )

Bernie,

with your bandwidth limit, you'll only get two pictures and a movie. Better go to the library.

Terry and Bruce,
I know this sound simple, but have you sent off copies to your bank and/or the police? I hate to think how many people could get caught out by this scam. You could save many other less internet savvy people from damage.

I haven't bothered since I did once report it.
Got told I should have known it was a scam & why don't I watch 60 minutes!!!
Police aren't interested either ...... at least not local yokels!
I think the Fed Police now have a special fraud section to try to catch these idiots but as most are from overseas the trail goes cold pretty quickly.
Most times if you cut & paste the first line of the email into Google & search you'll find many identical incidents.
