Avacardo is known to reduce cholesterol George, and its very nice with pepper and a little salt mashed up and spread on toast. Great for a light breakfast, but a little costly over here in WA. An alternative is CRESTOR 40 mg tablets but you have to see your GP for them. Stay fit and healthy M8.

Can you grow Avacardo's where you live Keith?. They are also rather nice if you put a smear of vegemite on the toast then squash the avacardo on top.. I never thought I would say that about those things but I actually enjoyed it.

Today our yard campers helped out bigtime with the mulching of the fruit trees clippings seeing that the 2 baby birds had left home this morning :D Now we are hearing the sounds of that much promised rain but just a few drops at the moment, hopefully the good stuff won't be far away and that bushfire will get the guts kicked out of it. :D

Apparently you won't get avacado fruit from a plant grown from a seed, there are only a few basic stock trees that produced fruit and all fruit bearing trees trace their graft back to these base trees.

I spent a few hours today cutting down the neighbours trees that were over hanging my fence & my house roof. (electric chainsaw)
The gutters had an inch & a half of black rotting leaves in them that was destined for my rain water tank.
So...... I then disconnected the downpipes & flushed the gutters out.
Not sure what my neighbour will think of the pile of chopped up tree in his yard!!! It's not too much...... only about 10ft high.
OK, Dot send that rain my way now please!!!

I understand it also takes from 3 to 5 years growth before you get any fruit. At my age it's the Supermarket or a growers roadside stall.

When ever we travel from here to Qld or back, we call into the avocado farm and buy up all the good stuff, then stop in at the Ballina fish co op and buy up the king prawns, then sit in a park some where and have prawn and avocado sandwiches till we are stuffed full  I grew a few avocado trees and called into the avocado farm to ask about how long till they produced fruit, that was when I received the bad news, only freak plants bear edible fruit.

Wrong shape Dottie, those are ripe mellons, not avocados
