How come there is heaps of TV stations and all of them are doubled and tripled up showing repeats of repeats and just crap all round??

When Pay-TV arrived in Oz, the Age began publishing a special program section every week - as part of the Green Guide.
I perused it for a month, while considering if it was worth forking out the $$$.
There were so many repeats of programs it wasn't funny.
As one of my special interests was motor racing events not broadcast by the major free-to-air networks, I tracked events like British Touring Cars, NASCAR, etc, and found one new event per week, repeated daily, sometimes for two weeks! Some events were repeated up to three times in one day - presumably to (a) fill broadcasting time and/or (b) cater to shift-workers.
I decided the coverage was limited, and not worth the expenditure.
Nothing has changed with the switch to digital TV.
The free-to-air stations are doing the same as the Pay-TV people... parallel broadcasting to justify the existence of the multiple channels.
It has ever been thus, I'm afraid...
BTW, I still don't subscribe to Pay-TV.

On top of what Ray said, we are heading into the non ratings period where more people are out shopping than watching. Then we metamorphosis into the holiday travel period where only the cat and dog are at home watching (maybe).

The best bet is to go to the DVD rentals and ask if they have any stock they are liquidating and/or if you can purchase something you really want. Even Aldi have a DVD sale on once in awhile.

Then we can all sell/swap our unwanted for something we haven't seen - like a book swap. Has the advantage of being able to post to someone that is too far to swing by to collect.

Is anyone else having trouble with slowness on their computer today / night? when I go to get back on line it keeps coming up with messages like network is busy try again later or Invalid password I just keep on a clicking and sure enough given a few minutes we get into action but how dam slow is this bigpond thing?

Have just finished filling out the next part of the civil claim thingy for that nice man that stiffed us with those fake chairs on good ol Gumtree. Taking them to the magistrates court tomorrow and they will send the nice man the papers this time.. so now we wait another 21 days. Oh the joys of running over so many Chinamen

What is in the heads of some people? Today 31degs we were at Buntings when a 4x4 parked with a blur healer dog in the back seat, as the driver and his mate got out the windows went up so I politely asked him to please put the windows down for the dog because of the heat. Well he flew off his knob so I held my temper and asked him again to wind the windows down, he did but one window x 2 inches, as he walked past me he said "Stupid F#$@!n bitch" to whit I responded "Do not speak to me like that" so I went to the girl that is at the door in Buntings and asked to see the manager. The manager arrived within 30 seconds and I told him why I was upset i.e the dog in the car and asked him to monitor the time that the man was away. He agreed so I went about my business.. Grrr. Then at 8pm tonight I was doing my good girl walking thing when holy hell the twat around the corner to us started letting off the gas gun (bird scarer) I jumped with the noise and jarred my back but there were another 8 shots let off so I was off like a hobbled ferret I had just about got to his place when George pulled up and put me in the car and we continued to the scene where there was a small lady reading the shooter the riot act because she was next door and the noise nearly blew her over plus the dog was under the car shaking like a leaf..It was great to see another female getting stuck into this guy. I had reported this womble to the EPA a couple of weeks ago and they sent him a letter about it. While we were away last week our neighbour said the gas gun was going off all the time.. I told this twat I had reported him to the EPA and he played dumb so I told him I was going to do it again tomorrow as well. It was then he said he wouldn't do it again = TOO LATE BUDDY. He even told G that the police told him he could let the gun off in town sorry but the local wallopers have no idea on the laws of the EPA remember the time they told me that if you had the appropriate licence you could fire a firearm within your own yard Tomorrow the council, police and EPA are really going to get it good and proper. What if there was young children trying to get to sleep and that noise going off?? I told him if he didn't like the noise the birds made when they were going to bed to bloody well move.. How arrogant can people be? Yes the birds are a bit noisy at their roosting time but they have been coming here every year for hundreds of years, there is nothing that will discourage them. They are here for just the summer. Human beings Arrhhhhhhhhh

Dot, the bird scaring twat sounds a real menace to your health. Is there a department for protecting the environment and wildlife? Surely the birds have a right to nest where they have done forever? Good luck getting him fined and shutting him up.
