Update on our Leaky Van

Post by Ros20549 »

Up date on the Leaky Van..... Well today we must say a very big thankyou to our dealer once again, our van is booked into Melbourne on the 20th for a complete roof reseal, we would have preferred it being done in Ballarat but hey, he's paying so we are more than happy to take it down. This dealer has been wonderful to work with and did not hesitate to have it fixed we in fact did not even ask he heard on the grape vine that we had problems and contacted us to see what the problems was and that he would look after us.. This van which is only 2 years old has had ongoing water leak issues from day one, so maybe now with a complete reseal our problems will be solved so finger crossed.

Cheers Ros.

Haha Dot not going to happen I think I am addicted to ironing If only I could iron the wrinkles out of my face I would be one very happy ironing lady    ) Hand a little better today have not had the shotting pains for a day or two now so guess it doing a little more healing. But still very tender in one spot near the wound site, after 4 months would have thought this would have fixed its self  have Doc appointment at end of the month so will wait and see.

Cheers Ros.

Well the van has gone to the repair shop in Melb to have its complete reseal and at this moment our dealer is picking up the bill :!: . The chap at Chief Caravans ( who just happened to work for Regent while our van was being build) was not surprised about our leaks he said that inside glue and not outside glue has been used on the sealing of our van so he has promised that he will do an excellent job and our van will never leak again is also going to take pictures of the process for us . We are so far very impressed with chief Caravans so finger crossed our problems will be solved once and for all

Cheers Ros

Good news Ros, isn't it a pity that ALL caravan & RV builders don't get a chance to read good business practice reports and how to "care" for their customers. :D

Well we picked up our van today from Melbourne where it has been with "Chief Caravans" for repairs. Our Dealer 7th street Caravans in NSW had arranged for it to go there to have all our leaking problems fixed (hopefully), so we must say a very big thankyou to both these business this has been at no cost to us. Our van as most of you know is now just over 2 years old and we lost our Manufacturer Warranty when Regent went belly up in early 2012 our van was only 4 months old then. 7th Street offered to look after us and they have all the way. The van has had quite a few leaks over this period. First it was the 4 seasons hatch, then the front windows, Dometic fixed these problems with the winders, then from about 6 spots on the roof above our beds, not funny when you get dripped on in bed in the middle of the night, and the last straw was when we were away this time and the overhead cupboards along the side of the van (single beds) the water just poured in wetting all our clothes you could ring the water out they where so wet and this was with only 1 good day of heavy rain.

They have removed all the vents, windows, except the front one's a little misunderstanding there (thought we had had them done ) cleaned all the sealant off the joints, air-con and the corner moulds and replaced with new sealant. So our fingers are crossed that this will fix our problems. The guys at "Chief Caravans were fantastic and very understanding. John has even offered to come to Ballarat next time if we have further problems and fix them for us but he is quite sure that what he has done is the end of our problems. So now its time to pack the van and get back on the road and hopefully sleep soundly when we hear rain.

We now have to write a very big thankyou to our dealer 7th Street who have done all this work without us paying a penny, I must mention that we did not contact 7th Street to get this work done was just going to pay ourselves but they got wind of our problems and contacted us, so that was fantastic from their part, well done guys. and big thankyou to John at "Chief Caravans" who really looked after us even took photo's to show us doing the work,he took us thought his factory today and showed us how he makes his van and how he fixed ours. Excellent work. So until we get some heavy rain our fingers are crossed.

Cheers Ros and The Boss.
