Rang the engineer re the increasing of the CVM and he wanted to know the rating of the tow bar that was put on when the bus was lengthened so had to wait till the man got back from his holiday to ask as there are no markings at all on the actual tow bar. He said he put a heavy duty tow bar off a 1 tonner ute rating about 2500kg (I think from memory) So now all the details are to go to the engineer with more mumbers to see how much more we can get. Geoff, G rang the transport people and they threw it back onto the engineer.

Oh no... not a one tonner!!
Tell 'em it was off a 16 tonne Mack Truck!!
I've got some number punches if you wanna stamp a plate for it?
Richard Wintle will certify it for you...
He'll supply the tamper proof rivets to attach it too..........
I'd love to see how it's attached George? Size of bolts? High tensile? Number of bolts?
I seem to remember your bus is a Monocoque construction? No chassis?

That's what I would expect, you get better service in a country office where you know the people behind the counter.Dot wrote:...... Geoff, G rang the transport people and they threw it back onto the engineer.
The manager whom I know pretty well spent a fair while on the phone to someone before she came out with the folder with the chart of tyre size and weights.

It was originally but after we had finished the stretch and frame work it now has Chassis rails and is stronger than it ever was.BruceS wrote:Oh no... not a one tonner!! That was my response as well

Not wrong there Geoff.

Why flat tow? Put it on a trailer. Every km done by the motorhome towing the car is equivalent mileage for the car, so although you're not driving it, the speedo shows that you've travelled those kms, and therefore the value of the car go s down. When we get a Motorhome, the Jimny ...which I might add Is 14 years old and still as strong as the day it was made...I bought it new...will be put on a trailer.

Howdy there Dee, no towing trailers for us and the GV doesn't clock up the k's when being towed that is one of the features of them. He may be of service with that conman though. Maybe he could ask his mate to do a drive by to see if the shop is open??GregnDee wrote:Why flat tow? Put it on a trailer. Dot, We have just returned from a little trip up north. We saw plenty of Suzuki Vitara 2 dr being A framed and a couple of Suzuki Swifts also. Even saw an auto Honda on a Gypsy dolly.
But by the sound of things you already have your mind made up.

Re: Banal .. Open to any topic on and off topics etc
G wants an auto but I am happy with either as I use the auto as a manual a lot of the time anyway. I want to go and have a look at all the smaller cars like Mazda, Toyota, Mitsi, Hyundai, Suzuki swift and others. We liked the test drive we did in Keevo's GV and that was manual so G shouldn't be too worried about a manual car...BUT!!!
So back to work for you next week is it David?
