free victoria weight check

Post by bagmaker »

blatantly re-posted from the grey nomads site, Vicroads have opened the Broadford weighbridge to all who wish to use it -as long as vicroads aren't using it - 24/7.
Great safety initiative I reckon, good to see. More are planned.

That's novel - a Government Department helping people avoid fines!

Well done them.

I wouldn't be game to test it out if I thought I was close.
I'm betting there would be a camera watching & probably a live link back to Melbourne.

Good way to find out how many are heavy and if it's worthwhile getting serious with checking all RVs.

I reckon that everyone of us should weigh our vehicles at least once a year. It is surprising how much extra weight you bring on board from time to time. Fill up your tanks and head to the weighbridge folks. Don't forget the navigator, dog, cat, whatever it is that you usually travel with.
I don't think it will be long before all RV's get the pleasure of a visit to the scales.

In Darwin the old Winnellie weigh bridge used to be available they had turned the readout around so you could read it through the window, and I was told that the new bridge at the wharf is the same.
I believe most Garbage Dumps have a public weigh bridge,

The local tip at Shellharbour will give you axle weights written on a piece of paper for free, or $12 for an actual weighbridge certificate. Each trip back here in the Ford Cargo required a trip over their weigh bridge just so I knew how close I was.... or why the poor thing struggled so much when it saw a hill
