I had a GUARD dog, level 4 obedience and you could walk over her and play with her in the workshop, just dont try and walk out without permission. She got one smart arse who was told to not follow me and stay in the work shop. He followed me and when told to stick REAL close and not turn back he did and she did her job. He found his hand firmly grasped and she would not let go yet did not break the skin. I had several youths waiting for me when I came to work in the morning. She placed them onto the corner of the yard and sat and played with them but they could not stand up. I had a good time with the last one as I left him there while I pretended to ring the cops and had a long discussion, he could only hear one side as I had my finger on the button. After I had a talk with him I never had another entry LOL.
Never trust a guard dog just because it looks placid as it could be well trained and give you a nasty surprise.

Yes, Brian,
A good guard dog is worth it’s keep.
One of SWMBO’s Labs (a bitch) was not formally trained, but fiercely loyal to her.
As a demonstration when our relationship was getting serious, she suggested I give her a gentle slap on the hand.
I didn’t get a chance to repeat the move. Dora had a firm grip on my hand, without breaking skin, but would NOT let go until ordered.
It wasn’t “Love me, love my dog”, but “If my dog approves, I do.” 😜
We’ve just clocked up 42 years...
We both still miss Dora.
