Well I for one am very grateful that it will be my grandchildren paying off Labor's debt and not I. :(

dawg (who has a hard time understanding the Labor logic of living off borrowed money rather than your own - but that's just me I guess.)

Economics is a funny game. If you don't have money coming in but you still must pay money out, you need to get money some where. If you just borrow it you eventually need to find a way to pay it back. If you borrow money and give it to those who will spend it straight away then there is a chance some of those people you would have had to pay unemployment to will actually be working and paying taxes, an income instead of an expense. Plus you get 10% of all the money you gave out back as GST.
The country keeps ahead of the game, confidence stays up and there is a chance more people will stay in a job maintaining a better income to expense ratio.
The tiny percentage of GPD that the national debt stands at is nothing compared to the debt the average home owner has. So are those who buy a house complete idiots who have no idea on how to run on a budget?

To many people listen to the Murdoch nonsense, Aust was in good financial shape before the change of govt, let's see how long we stay that way, if we end up I a recession with this govt yet we avoided it with the last govt it will clearly stamp who were the better money managers won’t it..

3) Aust was in good financial shape before the change of govt,..
1) Tell that to the PIGS*
2) yes, like the $900 government booster paid to almost everybody except it went for overseas imports and other things like pokies, that did not benefit the economy.
3) if so, then what shape was it in with no debt and a surplus, at the previous turnover?

dawg

*Portugal Italy Greece and Spain (think Ireland was included at one point)

WOT! Frugality is NOT magic? I've been deluded all these years when I could have maxed out *my credit, lived a cavalier life of ease and splendor. How sad.

* "my" is actually somebody else's money init?
