Dot, I still have a vivid imagination but it only ever seems to get me into trouble these days.
That's what we like to hear M8, Chuck and I have been in so much trouble this last 6 mths we are quite used to the eye rolling of the other two with us ;)
So where are the good pics???? And while you are at it, where are the pictures of the moon?? Everyone has moon shots.
You are a very naughty boy David, you are trying to make me write myself a letter aren't you? yes I have new moon pics but you know I will get into trouble if I post any skin   We had a terrific time doing the moon, so much so that the first photographer was laughing so much she couldn't get a good shot and all the laughter caught Wendy's ears so she had to come and investigate what was so funny, she ended up having to do the honours with the camera.

Have been looking at the cars to flat tow, contacted 2 dealers (Suzuki) both of them had to go away to ask someone else, 1 has got back to me and still waiting on the other. I just rang another car dealer (Hyundai) and asked "What if any of the Hyundai's automatic cars can be flat towed"? Once again had to go away to find out and also still waiting for the reply.. Which brings me to another question for you wise lot   Which do you consider is the way to go when looking for another car? NEW or LOW K USED and why?

Dot, if you want to flat tow an automatic car it is critical that you buy the right one. I wouldn't ask a car dealer. Apologies to car dealers on the site, but!

No matter which a-frame set up you choose (an you will get expert opinions - all different) I suggest you ring Gary at Hitch'n'go in Queensland 0749391600. Choose whichever brand a-frame you like, but trust him for good advice on which vehicle.

As for new or used, how much money have you got and how long do you expect to live?

To satisfy the ego - new. To satisfy the wallet - couple of years old with low k's - that will save 15k to 20k.

Thanks Steve shall do. The other (Suzi) dealer just rang back to say the mechanic told him to have the car in neutral and there is a knob to twist and all ok to flat tow the GV. They have 2 2nd hand ones there with low ks i.e. 38 & 52 thou k's and the same price so will go and have a look on Thursday and will also get him to show me where in the hand book where it says you can flat tow. The Hyundai man rang back to say there is not one car in that brand (auto) than can be flat towed. Looking like it will be a GV for the about town and tow car..

We have a Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Hope this helps.

I think the Grand Vitara is great and it seems to be the popular choice for MH'ers who wish to tow an automatic. I don't have one because the weight is above the manufacturers allowable towing weight. Having said that, I'm very happy with my very capable and reliable Daihatsu Terios manual - the GV is more substantial and more comfortable as a daily drive.

After checking it all out offer them $2000.00 less than what they're asking as well as a 3 year extra warranty included, if they don't come up with a reasonable counter offer be prepared to walk ( slowly ... give them time to change their minds )Oh, and ask for a RAA ( SA ?) test and check at their cost , Seems obvious but look at the tyres and if they're a bit worn ask for NEW Michellins or similar :P
Don't be afraid to ask for the world ,'cos if you never ask you'll never get ! :o

There is always the "I'll get / use your finance Co , they get a big kick back and will sometimes offer a better deal , then pay cash or personal loan.!

Then listen to the RAA bloke and don't think it will be all Ok because you like the colour or something like that ( just joking )

Dot, There are quite a few Suzuki Vitara being flat towed up this way at the moment. Most of them are 2 door, can't tell if they are man or auto. The 2 dr is shorter therefore lighter than the 4 dr. Next most popular would be the Terios, but I don't think they make them anymore. Don't bother looking at Suzuki Jimny as they can't be flat towed without modification. I'll keep looking while on our roads trip ( starts tomorrow ) and will keep you posted on what else is being flat towed.

And you probably should write yourself a letter, you know you deserve one.
Cheers

Thanks Ron shall try some of your suggestions out but I might get a black eye
David I have received my letter from me, it was a very polite one to be sure, We were given a test drive of Keevo's grand Vit whilst at 40 mile beach and we both were impressed with it. :D Our present car is still going along ok but it is a bit tired and can't be towed. Our female Galah (Nora) has been to the vet as she was on the floor of the aviary when we got home all puffed up with her head under her wing so off to the vet yesterday, she was very weak and no fat on her so she had a jab in her breast muscle and has another tomorrow. She is in the small cage which is away from her husb (Norman   ) and their boys (Chris & Cringle) so she goes in the garage be kept warm and quiet till we know what's going on. Miss meow also had a check up after her Nephritis attack when in Carnarvon, so she also had bloods taken and will know her results tomorrow. Never stops does it? Even had the pleasure of experiencing that stuff that falls from the sky known as rain but only a few drops was had.
