I see you also have the stutters
Took the bus to Shane the man because I felt the bus was sooooo gutless I could of got out and pushed it up the slightest incline myself anyway Shane found & did the following.. Remedy Lack of power, check fuel/ supply, Check Pre filter & clean. Check Turbo Boost pressure & set. Check turbo bearings etc. Check & adjust fuel throttle.(reckoned we only had about half) Check & adjust fuel air ratio , check/adjust timing. So we picked it up and went across the road to the highway 1 caravan park to have a cuppa and chat with fellow forum members then when the crazy car commuters had decreased we headed for home. Going up the big hill towards home I even got held up behind a couple of trucks but I bit the bullet and over took them much to my delight   Looks like problem solvered. yeahhhhhall so looks like we are on a roll and to top it off the exhaust brake that only worked now and again is working when it needs to. This mechanic of ours is one smart dude and doesn't charge over the hill ;) ;) Now we are getting all of the stuff we took out back in for the trip to Melb where the bus's new insect screens are awaiting pick up from the Alfab factory. Won't know ourselves  Even the pussy is getting excited

Bloody hell, sounds like I'll have to put a 'chip' into the Cruiser motor & increase the 3" exhaust to a 4" just to keep up with you now !! :?

Not quite that good but I would appreciate a foot stool next ride I have in your rig. (that's the test to show who your friends are though) :)

Reason I was interested is that we are having suddenly, starting problems and gutless response, though its a bit intermittent. I am suspicious of the fuel filter, its not been changed for nearly 50000k. Wonderingif it didnt like the biodiesel, though we have not had issues in the past.

Biodiesel absorbs water because of the way it is made, they use acetone to strip out the glycerol from the cooking oil/palm oil. Sometimes they spray water through as well to pull any soap residue and then more acetone is used to strip out the water. This does no harm to the fuel system, but it does pick up the water and rubbish out of any fuel tanks it passes through, including the servo the fuel came from and your fuel tank. The water trap and fuel filter will attempt to remove what is can, but it will block fairly quickly if it has a lot of rubbish to remove. 10,000km is a long run for fuel filters, if that is actually 50,000km and not 5,000km, the filter is well over due for changing. It's not a difficult job, a Google search will probably turn up a you Tube video of how to do it, there seems to be a video for everything these days, get a feel for how it's done and always carry spare fuel filters, they are the most common problem diesel engines will face due to poor quality diesel storage these days.

Definitely the 50 thousand. We have been racking the kms up. My fear is getting air in the lines and not being able to bleed it out, cannot find the primer pump, and not sure if I can pull it through with the starter motor. Of course I do not have a spare fuel filter either. The clear trap below the (I think fuel filter) does not appear to have water in it, but when I open the little tap thingo it sucks air. Should I be opening it with the motor running? The mix in there looks a little oily, the fuel when I filled it didnt seem as runny when I refilled

What engine is fitted to your rig Martin? GM's and Cummins are the only ones I an think of that don't have lift pumps to prime the system, but if you fill the fuel filter (spin on type) with fresh fuel first they both self bleed. Can you post a photo of the filter just to be sure we are both talking about the same unit, don't open any drain taps etc while the eng is running, you will either fill the system with air or get drenched in diesel and risk the whole lot going up in flames if the exhaust is hot, diesel will ignite by heating only, it doesn't require a spark or flame.

I did mention checking for full throttle before Dottie, but is good that he checked the pump timing and fuel rack adjustment as well as the boost pressure... but didn't he do that last time?
