Oh golly gosh.

Now that the polite version is out..... F A A A A A R R.... A W A Y!!!

Left Millaa Millaa this morning & headed down towards Paronella Park.

Half way there Navigator says, looking in the LH side mirror, "I think the left front leg just fell off!"

Ummm.....

Pull into a layby shortly & ... yep, it's gone.

I did notice on a couple of previous occasions that it dad dropped a cupla notches & meant to put that on the shopping list for replacing, but, of course, bu the time you get to were you're headed that day the memory went with the vanished leg.

Then, whist stopped I went for a walk around the van checking tyre & hub temps. Tyres ok but the two rear hubs a bit on the worm side... will check again when we get to Paronella Park. Did so & yep, the still too warm for my liking.

So, never having done a bearing service will now have to find someone, hopefully at Innisfail, to check/service/replace whatever is necessary.

Then, after we set the van up for the day, went to turn the radio on ... nope, no power to it... I'm thinking a fuse. The Millaa Millaa - Innisfail road is a bloody disgrace... full of potholes probably from all the rain we've had here & of course the high volume of trucks.

No worries, aye, it's just $$$.

Awe Chuck, it's made round to go round.

Looks like you are having a bad run, seems to always happen in a cluster of events, so let's hope your cluster has had enough for this run. xx

Got it sorted - I think - today at a little town south of Innisfail. A van repair joint there - Cassaway Coast Caravans - called a bloke in to have a look see. Left the van with them & we drove back up to Etty Bay, lovely spot, had morning coffee & muffin there sitting on the shore of the bay & just lapping up the scenery. Another NSW couple pulled up near us & we got talking... he's a retired mechanic & his last job was with the NRMA, tells great stories, we chatted for 2 hours. They left so we had fush'n'chups (that's for Norman) for lunch then drove around to the harbour about 7 klm away & just sat there watching the boating for a cupla hours.

Then got the phone call saying all done so returned. The problem was not the bearings, they were fine & more so after they all removed, cleaned & replaced with one seal replaced as well. The problem was in the brake system for that wheel... I don't know the terminology but from what I could gather the backing plate has an arm - I think, or something similar that moves when the pedal is pressed. Well this particular piece was not returning so leaving the brake dragging a bit. Hence the heat.

They took the offending bit to a brake specialist up the road a bit to get a replacement bit but the bloke said he didn't have any. My fella says that's bullshit, but there is bad blood between the van repair place & the brake specialist. Specialist reckons the van joint should send all brake stuff to him to fix. Anyway, my bloke has modified the problem bit & it works a lot better but not perfect, so suggested we take it to a brake specialist when we next see one, but don't forget it.

So far it's working well & we are about 25 klm south of Tully in a little dirt track just off the road near what appears to be a big truck bay used by Police/RTA etc... one on each side of the hwy.

Heading to Home Hill tomorrow then Lake Elphinstone on Thursday.

Good spot there Chuck. It depends on your needs, but at Home Hill the Showground has been closed for over a week. There is a Rotary Park opposite side of the main road, beside the racetrack. Great place to stay.

We always stay at the spot beside the info centre in Home Hill. Yes it is beside the railway line but they do not worry us even when they toot the horn going through town. Water at info for a couple of dollars. I am assuming that you are turning off the highway at Bowen Chuckles? Did the Cassowaries wander through when you were at Etty?

Boy are we getting a battering right now, scary enough being inside listening to the rain and wind, just imagine what it would be like for the poor animals with no shelter :( went to Mt Barker today and the amount of big trees that had come down over the last few days was mind boggling, pity we can't grab the wood  The Dr I was to see today cancelled my appointment for today as she was crook so I am off to town tomorrow, hope the weather is better than today. Filled the spare fuel containers (diesel) $0.93.7cpl happy with that. Doggie sitting for a week from this Wednesday :D :D

The storm damage between Wagga and Mildura along with the flooded paddocks and roadside was something to see, but not a lot of fun to drive in. I think Wayne and Nini will be taking their weather back to Tocumwal soon so peace should return in a week or so
