Margaret & Brian went off to Mt Barker and such places for the full day shopping trip leaving me here to decide what jobs I should do. It finally came to Trim the Hedge cause it hadn't had the top trimmed last time and now it was looking a bit like a teen age hair cut gone wrong.... much like most of those hair cuts seem to look. Some may remember my last attempt involved parking the truck real close to the fence and climbing off the tray onto the top of the hedge and moving bits along for me to sit on while cutting the next bit. That part worked fine and was a proven winner, however when I moved the truck back into the yard a part of the thing that holds the ramps up snagged in the fence without me noticing it and I tore the mesh off the fence
This time the truck has a roof off one of those soft sided trucks still sitting on the back and on top of the ramps. This made a much better base to climb on/off the hedge. Got about half way along and decided the battery must need recharging cause I certainly did, the battery was full again in no time but I wasn't even half recharged, lithium batteries do have their disadvantages sometimes, but back into it, nearly finished and the truck with the solar panels arrived... bugga
After shuffling all the bits of security mesh and padding along till I could get back to my climb off spot onto the truck I wasn't real keen on doing it all again to finish the last bit, so I did that with the ladder, by this time Margaret and Brian have returned and Brian reminded me about the fence issues last time.... thank you Brian.... I was guided clear of the fence and managed to put the truck back in the yard without wrecking anything.
This is about the stage I realise that all the bits I'd used for climbing on top of the hedge are still up there ........ Tomorrow is another day apparently so hopefully I can complete this hedge trim without destroying the fence :D

Terry, I'm glad that, unlike your batteries, you weren't 'full' or who knows what may have happened. That first step never hurts but landing is often a problem. I have a good pic of how to trim a hedge properly, I will see if I can find it!!!

You'd think Brian would have done that wouldn't you.... but his forgettery is as well developed as mine it seems :? Maybe I should have arranged for Wayne to come over again.... but we might have left him up on the hedge

I was wobbly enough on top of the hedge stone cold sober, sure wouldn't want to try it with a skin full  Those EGO 56v electric hedge trimmers sure have a lot of grunt, made easy work of the cutting part and it was getting close to forest clearing in some parts. Battery powered tools have come a long way in recent yrs and seem to have passed the petrol powered stuff now

Looks like it was a busy day for us Mannum folks!
I've been busy floating the dinghy down both sides of the houseboat while grinding off all the paint.
The previous owner decided to paint water paint over oil paint with the result of big flakes falling off.
I'll be around to inspect the hedge haircut once I return to the marina!
Did it turn out with a level top?
String line or laser light? lol
Lovely warm days once the fog/frost lifts?
Did Margaret turn up with Honey Burbon?

Do you live full time on a houseboat Bruce? That was my other option to getting a bus but The Driver is a landlubber.
