More bench space needed.
This is the front kitchen in the van... tidy, but not enough bench space... so, would like to obtain a round piece of timber/breadboard etc to fit into the top recess of the sink.
Measurements are - approx - 375mm x 10mm.
Anyone know where I might be able to procure one?

Something like this Chuck?

See if you can go pick it up. (cheaper?)Near Narellan.
Couple of hours out in the workshop & you can make it fit exactly!
Check out cheap as chips etc?

A friend of ours got some marine ply & cut it so that is sits in the sink & is level with the draining board. I gave it a few coats of clear Estapol- did it in 2008.

Boss,
Had thought of those & whilst reasonably easy to shape, they tend to discolour over time... & timber - with the stain I've got - will blend in nicely.
Kay,
Will have a look at marine ply next time I'm near Bunnings.
Thanks both.

Camphor timber is the best if you are going to be cutting ham & tomato sandwiches on it.
Chap up in Nimbin does them.
I'd be looking for something that you can wash & wipe easily without swelling & splitting too much.

Maybe ask him for what you want & a price?

Hi Chuck,
I know how you feel with not enough bench space. We have a board that fits over our sink and we never use it. It is a hindrance because you can't use the tap or the spout is in the way. After about 6 years in this MH we never use it. I have been thinking of fitting a fold up/down table at the end of the bench (or a bigger RV ).

Was there more bench space in the motorhome Chuck? Did the toilet work properly? What about water leaks?

A S/S one that you could use as a draining board would be great if you can source one or get one made.
We use ours to hold the dish drainer and generally use the small sink. When we use the big sink we position the drain hole over the other sink. If we are using both sinks we put it to the left of the big bowl and position the drain hole over it. It has rubber feet so is non slip

Chuck'
I have the same sink in my 5'er and a wooden cover was supplied [round with a round cut out so that the tap could be used as well] even had laminex on top to match the rest of the bench.
