Re: Australia Paints P/L
I Know Late post, and you have all moved on!!!
Dot and George, had to repaint roof after sitting in open paddock near sugarcane etc many months ago. So took all solar panels etc of roof. Having looked up old forum stories I decided to go down this track:
First was Dulux PRECISION Maximum Strength Adhesion Primer, then
Taubmans Low Sheen White Sunproof Exterior Paint - 12L White,Suitable for water collection surfaces!
Qcells - are a light weight, microscopic glass bubbles,
Mixed together and then proceeded to paint roof.
That was 6 months ago, have only had the opportunity to visit bus 3 times. Did not replace all solar panels(minimal to keep @#%@# batteries alive).
So what have we noticed: YES Fresh white coat was cooler! BUT I felt on the very hot days that we/I was there the Bus actually felt cooler than previously.
Last visit early DEC on the 4th and 5th day IT RAINED, so I tasted the water off the roof. MMM tasted good!!
So late FEB/Mar/Apr when I'm there to get it ready for REGO etc I will try and update this space!!!
Best Wishes Wayne & Gina

Re: Australia Paints P/L
I used Wattle Rust Guard expoxy.
One thing I noticed being parked in a coolish wettish environment is the mould growth. Some how it gets attached into the paint and is quite hard to remove. If painting the first time, I'd suggest trying to seal it with something to make it super slippery so the mould doesn't stick. (but this suggestion is not recommended for George or Ray.)

Re: Australia Paints P/L
Way back when we began motorhoming, our Coaster had Thermoshield and a top coat of the latex? paint that they supply. Under our carport the roof used to grow mould, but only on the south side. I tried a few different products to remove the mould. Most were unsuccessful, but i did find a laundry type product that killed the mould. Downside was it also stripped off the topcoat. Simple and cheap to recoat, but you do need to take a bit of care with mould removal products.
Cheers

Re: Australia Paints P/L
Bruce , will that remove existing mould or is it just to stop it from growing?
