House-Sitters needed!

Post by Greynomad »

Hi all,
Anyone like to spend nine weeks in Rutherglen, heart of the NE Victorian Wine Region?
We need someone (prefer couple) to look after our house, garden & dogs while we travel the Nullarbor & Points West from mid-April to end-June.

There are 25 wineries in the area (should keep you busy! ;) ), one just 200m from the house; as well as Rail Trails to various towns in the district. Bicycle tracks, walking tracks, 10km to the Murray (and more walking/cycling tracks), as well as Corowa and its shopping, hospital & medical centre. Rutherglen has a medical clinic as well.
Travel distances/times: Corowa 10km/10~15min; Wangaratta 45km/25~30min; Albury/Wodonga 50km/30~35min.
Good medical & shopping in Wangaratta. Albury/Wodonga has same, as well as Albury Base Hospital.
Rutherglen has three pubs, local vet, hardware (Mitre 10), quality butcher, IGA, Parkers Pies (Yum!), two bakeries, other stores & antiques.
Lots of cafes/restaurants in town and at most vineyards.
Gold Battery & other relics around town. Townscape has mainly survived intact from 1860s goldrush & building. Many shops retain building, just refurbish interior. New IGA retained one building facade & built around it in sympathy... hard to see where old building ends & new attached! Parkers proudly advertise preservation of (unrelated) awning signage from 1910. Townspeople proud of its history, and very friendly.

Our house is 3br BV on 1.25acre battleaxe block, so sheltered from traffic noise. Back yard is 1/3acre securely fenced for our two hounds (Lab & Beagle). Winter here is short. Don't really need wood-fired heating until late June. (Just when we plan to return!) :D
12m x 5m concrete slab rated to 10 tonnes (although it survived Ncle George's 12t bus relatively intact) with 15A plug & town water close-by. Alternatively we have a 'Guest Wing' (2nd bedroom with adjacent bathroom ;) ). By choice we have NO landline phone, cable internet, or pay-TV. (We use mobile broadband for internet.)
Shared back fence with - not very busy - local golf club ($10 a round) & we have a gate, so use it (like many locals) as a private park to walk with or without dogs.
For golfers, clubhouse & first tee are 100m from our house. Lawn Bowls club is 300m - not worth getting the car out for such a short walk.
Town shopping strip is 650m away - even I can walk it!
If you're interested, PM me for address & more details.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

It is only 8.5 tonne fully loaded with a GVM of 10.1 tonne. What do you mean by "relatively"? :)

Elastic truth, George. Author's privilege.
;) ;) ;) ;)
Your bus only widened some cracks I'd created on the edge where it's thinnest: at the join-up with the driveway/garden border.

Thought you mentioned that your rig was 12t. Chemo-Brain again, I guess...
:? Appy-polly-ologies from him. And from me.
