Apart from harvesting phone numbers, for the life of me I cannot fathom why someone would do this especially if no one responds. A real mystery.

I wonder if it a marketing tool to ascertain the demand for this class of vehicle in certain areas?

dawg (who used to live in a much simpler era - sad init?)

EDIT: just rang the paper and reported the bogus ad explaining that the ad appears in multiple states, there is no response and the vehicle should be selling for $120k, not $70k. I added that if I saw the ad in the future, I would be convinced that the paper was more interested in revenue. She said, "you should not see the ad in the future". :)

It does make you wonder about the techniques that are employed with marketing doesn't it.
