Modwood, Ecodeck and other composites are mainly used for decking and outdoor screening. You certainly wouldn't use it anywhere you wish to save weight as it is very heavy, a 5.4m length of Ecodeck which we have on our deck weighs in at 22kgs.
I suspect the cabinet maker may be talking about a composite lightweight sheet material, you might have to interrogate him further Dot. He may even source it for you Dot.

Agree. Also, it doesn't come in sheets - as far as I know.

Dot there is a chap here in Kingston that worked for some time in a caravan building place.
He has a lot of offcuts of very light laminated boards/planks. I can find out what it is if you like?
It's like balsa wood in the middle of it.
