SSL certification from today

From today this website has an SSL certificate in force.
Probably means very little to most of us but if this site was asking for credit card details or other confidential info, that info is encrypted as info is exchanged in BOTH directions between your computer/device and our website server.
Others with more knowledge than me might add more info?

https://[endcode] in the address bar. Once saved as a favorite WITH that in the address bar then there is no need to keep doing it.
