Looking at previous post re cracked rim.
A fellow foruminite from, Bayswater Melbourne, has a rim the same as I require and also some nut covers. Trying to save myself a quid and was wondering if there is anyone from Melbourne heading to Central Qld in the next 2 months that would be prepared to bring the rim up for me (22kg) We will be in the CQ area Rockhampton till end of August.
Regards
Gary

Gooday Gary,
Bayswater is just around the corner from me but sadly we won't be heading away for a while yet, bludy work again..... :?

That said, work may be able to help with our TNT account.
If you can get me a reasonably accurate weight and size of the rim I could get a quote from TNT to get it to you.
I'd need the delivery address so a PM would probably be better if it's any help to you.

Hi Lance, thanks for the offer, the rim will weigh 22kg plus a kg or so for nuts and covers and the dimensions of the packing box 24"X24"x9", I will ring around the transport companies locally and get some idea of costs as well. Regards
Gary

Gary are you sure about the 9" measurement? I thought it'd be a little bit more than that.
Pet-els will be on his way North soonish but not from Melbourne.

You are probably right, the tyre size is 8.25"x22.5", I was able to measure the diameter of the rim but just used the tyre width plus a bit, thinking about it now the measurement from the face of the rim edge to the face of the centre is probably closer to 12", Mrbolly can you come to the rescue here please.
Regards
Gary

Gary, if all goes well we hope to be back on the road in September heading north, if you can't arrange anything sooner (cheaper) we'll be happy to bring it up with us.

Thanks Steve, That would be much appreciated problem is between end of August and Bundy Rally we are going out to Longreach and back and I don't think it would be wise to tempt fate and cover that distance with a spare that has a cracked rim, will keep it in mind though. Having said that we have never had to use our spare in all our travels.
Regards
Gary

Rockhampton would be nearly double that probably?
Gary how about you ring one of the tomato growers around Bowen. I'm sure a few of the trucks running out of there to the Melb Market could throw it in their rope locker.

Greg & Dee were in Bowen .... they might help too if they read this.
