Here's some more pix of our avian visitors:

Our Kooaburras in their usual place: the old wheel in the back yard, watching for insects in the grass.

Without any care it has taken off and now big enough to walk around inside. It now has fairly insignificant yellow flowers and the bees just love it.
Cheers John
John,
I have consulted Mr Google's Nursery.
The proper name for "Hazel's Tree" is Gleditsia Triacanthos 'Sunburst'... common name: Golden Honey Locust. :P
Medium to fast growth. Prefers full sun. Can reach 20m.
Ours has doubled in height in five years!!! (It was here when we bought the place.)
So now we both know! :D

Yes. That is the name we were given for ours. It was also there when we purchased the house and it was a little thing for years but must have got into the water table as it took off over the last 5 years.
Cheers John

Our Semi-tame "Maggie" and last year's baby "Junior" came to visit t'other day. (She had twins this year, and they're as inquisitive as Maggie!)
SWMBO took some bread out to give them a bonus feed (apart from their regular breakfast), and the Beagle decided he wanted some, too. Totally ignored the magpies... there was food on offer, with a chance he might score some! ("Look, Mum, I'm sitting nicely...")

Love the picture Ray but I'm just a little worried about the Dog's undercarriage remaining in the lowered position.
Does he jump barbed wire fences at all?

All male Beagles jump barb wire fences.... but only once.

He’d qualify for the Olympics if he could jump fences!
Beagles are renowned tunnellers. They were bred to go after foxes & other vermin which live in burrows.
After we moved in, he dug his way to freedom three times before we curtailed his wanderlust with a low-mounted electric fence!
Only took two zaps for him to learn that the fence bites. Won’t go within 10ft of it now. ;)
Even when there’s a dog on the other side!

Yesterday, we had a surprise visit from a NON-avian resident of our yard.
A Bearded Dragon, presumably a female, was burrowing under one of the garden lights next to our driveway... in a high-traffic area!
Next thing we know, she's covering the burrow with mulch and gravel.
So we presume the burrow contains eggs. According to Dr Google's Veterinary Clinic, they'll hatch in about 40~90 days.

I mentioned in a previous post that Maggie's twins born this year are more inquisitive than she is.
Here's proof. My hand was about 18" from this one, which joined us while we were having a quiet glass under the carport after our Open Garden day... He/she wasn't bothered, and stuck around watching us with great interest until we stood up to head inside (about 10 minutes). Only then did it fly off.

Maggie's new baby (the inquisitive one) paid us a visit while we were having morning tea in the ODLA yesterday...
