Six Things Cancer Taught Me

This is a clipping from the Melb Herald last Sunday.
I agree with everything this bloke said.

1. Anger, Sadness & Regret Are Wasted Emotions.
Who can you be angry at? What are you sad about? What has already happened has happened. Regret is pointless.

2. Live In The Moment.
No-one can change the past or the future, so don't worry about either.

3. There Will Always Be Someone Worse Off Than You.
Appreciate and hold onto what you have. People take life for granted. Life is a privilege denied to so many. Make the most of it while you can.

4. There Is Pain, But Don't Suffer Because Of It.
Keep telling yourself that you are fine and you will come to believe it.

5. Listen To Your Body.
We keep pushing ourselves when we're young. Now, if my body tells me to rest, I shut up and listen.

6. Prepare Yourself For The Worst.
So when anything less than The Worst happens, you can rejoice.

Blake, not a 'cancer survivor', a man living with cancer, like me and many others.

Cancer taught me, lifestyle and diet are essential for good health and in the long run the only thing that keeps it in check. You can change the future, but not the past, so live for and create your future and you have a good chance to survive.
