Finely chopped grain bread.
We were told this was strictly veboten.
Tried them on minced meat... they turned up their beaks & refused to eat it!
So we went back to the grain bread.
They now wait on the barrel where we feed them, eagerly anticipating the arrival of chow time.
Maggie is now so used to us that she stays on the barrel while we place the bread in the feeding saucer. I reckon she’d probably allow me to pat her... but I don’t want to domesticate her to the point of dependence.
Vogels if ya could still get it ,Yea, i reckon as long as it aint full a preservitives it wont kill em ...!!!
Now way I would give em “ Fritz “ (devon to some ) ask a butcher what goes into that...

Our visiting magpies and many offspring have survived for about 20 years with small amounts of devon.
There are six of them witin 20 metres of our back door at the moment.

Ours love cheese , then a small amount of mince to help it go down.
The time to send a young'un out to fend for themselves was a bit stressing and noisy, but that's their way, and "Maggie'' would sneak back in when the flock were away somewhere else, so we ended up with 2 feeding times.

Australian magpies generally live to around 25 years of age, though ages of up to 30 years have been recorded. The reported age of first breeding has varied according to area, but the average is between the ages of three and five years.
