Drones is probably more interesting for the males of the species, but I don't have one yet. If anyone is feeling generous they might buy me one. Then I will have lots to talk about.

I have a drone, folds up and goes in my pocket, takes pictures and does flips .Im mostly into fixed wing, scratch built from the boards land agents use.

I have a few now, all still in their boxes. I'd love to see some of the photos and movies taken by different types of drones and a bit of a discussion on how well or otherwise each drone does a particular operation.
I've thought about just how handy a drone would be to fly over an area and look for a camp spot, then fly back up the track and determine if the vehicle could get in there. Height clearance, turn radius, sand or deep ruts, just which track that branches off the main track to follow and if there was enough solid ground to turn around in for the drive back out.
I know you could do this with the Toad, but you still need to find the spot first.

you wouldnt do that with a drone. Better to walk it.
I started droning when it was in its infancy. Built them myself, tested for underworld style chip makers. Interfaced with GPS, vision and various other sensors. Fantastic bits of kit, hook the gear up to a garden chair and it would fly. The gummint shut things down. Now only the bad guys and duped citizens can fly them, under strict control. Funny old world isnt it
