Has any of our lot had experience, or any knowledge of/with Home Oxygen use.
I want to compare the oxygen cylinder supply against the oxygen generator machine.

A couple of observations.
Wendy can't use the bottled stuff through the night as her shallow breathing when asleep won't trigger the release of gas. Is that how your bottles work?
You need both in case you wish to travel. (without 240v)
On the other hand it takes a while to get used to the noise of these machines!!! (wake up thinking a steam train is about to run you down)
It's much easier to move around the home with the accumulator than the bottles. Extensions on extensions etc etc!!
The machine uses max 230w but in SA you get a refund for that.

This is the machine I have been recommended: 1-6L/min Portable Intelligent Medical Use Dual Oxygen Air Concentrator Generator.

It is Dual power so it can be used in the car, The level of oxygen concentration is selective up to 90% (+ +). It claims a Sleep mode to keep it quiet, plus there are a few other features. $422 incl post on ebay.

The other machine type oxygen generator "thing" the Australian supplier wanted to sell me produced about 93% oxygen and was around $3500.00 plus delivery, and I think it did the same thing as this unit, but it was not portable as in take it in the car for a drive to IGA to get the Weis Bars or Peters Ice Cream specials.

Because I am on 'My Health Care' which is Federal Govt, I do not qualify for power rebate from the State Gov.

Tanks I'm not familiar with Queensland requirements but are you on a pensioner concession card?
If so I'm pretty sure you are eligible for 'assistance' from your regional health care service.
This organisation is usually the same one that assists with cleaning, showering & other mobility help. (ramp into your house etc)
You need to keep the pressure on for weeks, even months. If you have regular trips for hospital assistance which is mostly oxygen, then that is one of the big things to get it rammed through.
Are you in the care of a respiratory specialist? They can also get things moving.
Wendy gets as many free oxygen cylinders as she needs as well as monthly free service on the accumulator. (which costs her nothing at all)
You gotta push & push hard!!! Once you get it just make sure you keep it.

Yes I have a pension card and the Community Care Org. provide me with lawn mowing, daily meals, housekeeping, and transport if/as required. ALL of this is covered under the Federal "My Age Care" scheme --part of the Federal Gov attempt to keep me out of hospital/ nursing home.

I am only Level 1, and now waiting for reclassification to a higher level which allows for more service from the Community Care Org.
Once I have a higher level, I am expected to purchase my own machine, or oxygen equipment and cylinders. The Feds give the Care people more funds on the higher level, to cover whatever is required to keep the bubbles flowing.

It gets a bit complicated as to who pays for what. The State run electricity provider (Ergon) , have me Registered under the "Life Support Medical Register" . All that does is warn me if the power is going to be off for any maintenance.---BIG DEAL !

The State Gov won't cover anything that the Fed Gov cover. Electric costs are State run in Qld., so no cover or rebate from Urgon the electricity supplier.
HOWEVER; I MIGHT get a rebate/allowance for electricity for running my air conditioner under the Medical Cooling/Heating plan, which is a State Gov deal, (my application is in) and I am waiting for them to decided.

It is worth applying as the rebate/allowance is paid 3 monthly and is around $85.00 a quarter, paid direct into a nominated bank account.
