Girt is SOLD!!

Post by Greynomad »

We have finally decided that Girt is getting too much for us.
We’re both having difficulty with the five steps entry, and we no longer use her as much as we did in past years (2020 excepted, when no-one travelled!). We’ll be looking for something smaller.
Girt is a 2003 Winnebago Explorer with 150,000km on the dial. Well, she will have when we return home from this final trip in her.
I will post more details later.
Starting point for negotiations is $120,000.
If the buyer is willing to come to Rutherglen to collect her, I will be more generous.
Tilta-Trailer is available for extra $$$.

You are not going to get a replacement vehicle anywhere near the build quality of the early Winnies. But I suppose that you already know that.

Yes, Dottie, we will miss Girt, but we have to face reality. We’re not as young as we were when we bought Girt.
We’ve done The Big Lap in her... three years. And she’s been a comfy home-away-from-home.
But even despite Covid we don’t do the big trips we used to, so we don’t need a m/h this big any more.
So she has to go.

Alloy bullbar; Towbar
UPGRADES: Alpine DAB/FM/CD stereo (Bluetooth & phone connections); 2000W inverter; All interior LEDS; Flat-screen TV/DVD; Dingo solar controller.
This 2003 WINNEBAGO EXPLORER has been regularly serviced @ 5000KM intervals. Lifetime average fuel economy: 23.8l/100km, or 4.5km/l. It is equipped for off-grid living for approximately 10~14 days. (Varies with water usage.)
We have added many extras: •Alpine DAB/FM/CD stereo, with Bluetooth, phone connections, (2018); •CRT TV upgraded to a flat-screen HDTV with DVD, mounted on a new overhead cupboard door. (Winegard TV Aerial.) This has opened up extra storage behind, where the old CRT TV body intruded. The entire area above the windscreen is now a single storage space, ideal for long but light items; •Solar/thermal screens for all front windows (incl); •clotheslines which attach to the awning legs (incl); •extendable drying lines in shower recess; •hand-held shower head with flow control & off-switch; •wineglass racks; •fold-down cup stands for front seats when swivelled; •kitchen condiment rack; •custom-made Camphor Laurel cutting board/sink cover (incl); •external fold-out table; •Two LED bedside reading lights have been fitted; •Inverter upgraded from 1500W to 2000W; •Ducted diesel heating installed (fuelled from main tank).; •Extra travel-straps fitted to better hold the innerspring mattress in place when travelling.; •Under-awning lighting can be switched between the standard single light and a 2.5m LED strip we added.; •The door-handle light was converted to extra-bright LEDs.; •Mounting point for a 2nd flat-screen TV in the bedroom area, with 240V power & aerial point.; •Six extra 12V cigarette-style plugs, all permanently powered. (Only the original dashboard plug now requires ignition to be on.)
The fold-down Queen bed (with inner-spring mattress) has gas struts to help return it to stowed position for travel. With the bed stowed, the desk has an overhead cupboard with LED light and twin QH lights under, and a double power point alongside. (The desk & upper ‘wings’ become the legs, along with the full-width hinge, when the bed is down.) Inside the bed-head recess are storage shelves as well as the reading lights.
•Awning canvas & roller replaced in 2018. •Decals replaced Jan 2020. •Reversing sensors added to rear bumper.
Any faults/problems have been promptly fixed. The majority of this work and fitting of extras has been done professionally by MURRAY VALLEY MOTORHOMES in Strathmerton, Vic.
TILTA-TRAILER (extra $$) weighs 300KG & is rated to carry a car up to 1500KG GVM. (In-drawbar firewood basket added.)
Available late July 2021.

No, we bought her with 40,000km on the dial in 2009.
In 2003 Girt was the top-of-the-range fit out in the Explorer range, which came in threes sizes: 25ft; 32ft & 38ft.
BTW, at 8.1tonnes and single rear axle, you need a MR licence.
