Ya gotta wonder just who would want to win the top job with a possible war with Russia, China and the environment on the horizon ..... They would want to actually do something that was going to be in the best interest of all Australians for the long term, not just a select few looking to get short term gain ......

We don't have any "Statesmen" coming up through the ranks that I can identify, I can't see a collection of independents getting together enough to actually achieve what is required for the long term good of the country .......

Interesting, what do you consider Whitlam was doing that was bad? While he was in the top job, more infrustucture for less $$ was built than any other person in the top job has been able to achieve.

But then, what commercial/survival value is and what resale value is are often at polar opposites ..... A spot where you could grow enough to live on but highly unlikely to be bombed or over powered by foreign troops would be the most valuable piece of real estate anywhere ....

Seems a lot have forgotten exactly why Whitlam was 'dismissed'.

I wasn't referring to how many hectares the Arabs o0wned or would have owned. It was the Billions of dollars in Arab loans that almost happened to keep running the country.
Loans that needed to be approved & never were but 'someone' was pulling shonkies to try & circumvent the system designed to catch the crooks. (& it did!)
