So now they have to organise how to get back to the truck when the country dries out. Accomodation and car hire etc will make it a very expensive exercise, would have been far cheaper to just sit it out until they could drive out, they had food and water and the threatened hot weather was only high 30's for few days and dry heat at that.
They needed a lithium battery set up, eh  So are you and Peter Perfect going to head out there and tow it out like you did with Petals at Jon D's place a few yrs back ;)

Don't think there will be much left to tow, not by the time the roads dry out. Feel sorry for them in a way, but also it was their own stupid fault.

Not likely I have a distinct aversion to having to recover anything these days let alone 6 tonne of Oka.
Having been "stuck" not far from where that vehicle is for the best part of a week on a few occasions over the years waiting for the country to dry out enough to travel without causing damage to the tracks they will learn a few lessons before they are reunited with the vehicle.
The difference for us was that having spent months living and travelling in that country over the years we knew how little rain it takes to make things impassable.
When rain events are forecast you find somewhere high on a sand dune and sit, allowing the rain event to pass over you, they are usually travelling eastwards and don't hang around as there are no mountain ranges to slow them down like the east coast.
Then just listen to the HF/CB make calls on satphone to work out where the rain fell and adjust your sitting time frame to suit the expected time before you can move on, possibly not necessarily the direction you were travelling but an appropriate one for the conditions.
An enforced stay in one spot can be a great experience and increase your knowledge of the local environment.
