Re: Ukraine’s problem
When dealing with deranged despots, you can't take any action off the table. The Ukrainians are doing very well presently, they've wiped out a lot of convoys and stalled the advance, but how long that lasts is anyone's guess. From what I know, Russia has a small amount of sophisticated weaponry, the majority is old and lacks modern technology and so far the Ukrainians have had no trouble destroying tanks, plane, helicopters and convoys with the weapons given them by NATO and the USA. This will probably turn into a guerilla war by Ukraine sand even though they have Kiev surrounded, they may get a shock when the Ukrainians attack them from behind with their sophisticated anti tank and other weapons.
The only way this can end without it becoming a major European war is for the Russians to get rid of Putin and withdraw, otherwise they will lose in the end ans so will the rest of the planet big time.

A new generation gets to live through the same crap we did, the threat of all out nuclear war ...... The major powers are just better at it now with enough warheads spread across the world to wipe out both the USA and Russia and still have enough left to wipe out China and Nth Korea ....

I just can't see Russia getting rid of him, even if he says press the big N button. He has surrounded himself with those that will not argue with him, let alone disobey his orders. Living in a bunker, scared of getting covid, even scareder of the sputnik vaccine, looking increasingly older. Lots of pressure on mental health.
Agree with you T1, the parallels with Hitler are pretty scary.
I wonder if Ping is looking at the way most of the world has united against this action and having a second thought about Taiwan?
I have said for years, the only way to bring China to heel is to loose the addiction to cheap shit in the west, i.e. stop buying from there. Bit of short term pain for longer term gain.

Re: Ukraine’s problem
Stuff from China is now so expensive and slow to arrive, the addiction to buying from China is being weakened by the day ..... simple availability is about the only reason to deal with them now .... no one else makes a lot of the stuff any more.
We tried to buy a sample lot of 3.6v single cell chargers on Allibaba .... $20 for 5 units, $50 logistics ... then we still had to arrange freight from the factory door .... all in USD and GST would be added as it hit Australian shores ..... so it looks like we will be making these ourselves now ....

Our neighbour has family in Ukraine. Her father escaped many years ago during one of the conflicts . He was one of 6 and all the remaining families still there. She hoping they have got into Poland or somewhere else as no communications possible.

Maybe a higher $$$$$ offer to one or two of his bum buddies might do the trick.

Re: Ukraine’s problem
Putin must be mentally unstable if he thinks deliberately killing civilians and kids (thats the big one) will all be glossed over and he can become a citizen of the world again when the news cycle moves on to the next thing they can sensationalise.
