"A" frame on Yarris.

Post by BernieQ2 »

HELP...
The bolt in the picture is in a rivnut.
Which is turning, preventing me from removing. Any suggestions???
No access from behind it.
Bernie.

Three options:
Tighten the bolt with a rattle gun to pull the rivnut tighter and hopefully that will grip enough now to get the bolt out
or
drive a thin chisel between the bracket and body while undoing the bolt with a tool that will spin it fast enough for the friction to either hold the rivnut enough for the bolt to undo or wear away the flanged piece in the back of the rivnut that will cause it to come out of the body .... this will possibly enlarge the hole as ell so .....
or
cut the head off the bolt then the head off the rivnut and punch it through

Looks like a lot of cutting & shunting been going on there Bernie. Do you need to do all that to put it on the other one?
If you cut the head off can you lift the thing off the remaining bolt or does it need to slide out?
Time to check that brew? Always tomorrow!

The four bolt holes in the pic... you can only see three but you get what I mean.

So it looks like if you just cut the head off the bolt it can't still slide out unless you can bring the other side out far enough to slide it off the bolt shank.
I could say drill it out but I bet it's high tensile.
I'd love to hear Carol's comments when she came out to see what you've done to Girlie Car No 2 ???

Oh Oh!!! Have to drink left handed? lol
Need stitches? Carols got the sewing 'machine'.

Bernie, that's a bugger that you let the sauce out. Have the rest of the day off. And tomorrow if you need to.

Hold the head of the nut in a ring spanner and drill the bolt out. And cut through the side on the rivnut while your there.

Q: are they using rivnuts to hold the aframe on?

No Jon it's the gear the A frame hangs off.
Two are nuts and bolts, two are rivnuts each side.
I tried the rattle gun to tighten an then to undo but no go.😠😠
