What medical service?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Agree about the Indians. Sold the farm to a family, the 2 sons do all the work, daughter is top heart surgeon. They borrowed all the 2.5M to buy the joint less than 3 years ago, one of them rang me yesterday, they are now looking at the largest plum orchard in Australia, they do work pretty hard. All kids born here. The daughter laughs a lot about upsetting the old white male heart surgeons "not only do I have a vagina but it's a brown one as well"

Ray,

The ABC must have been for news stories and found your post..... look what they wrote. You should be an editor in chief. "We need a story about...." :D

I would love to know the accuracy of their "research" At the moment there is a 3-4 week wait for just an ordinary appointment with a gp. If it's an emergency, you can phone at 8:30am and take pot luck with which doc you may or may not see, and that is only if they have cancelled appointments for you to be able to see an emergency doc. I am not alone in demanding to see the same doc every time, I think we all should have that "luxury". When you get to the amount of crazy health issues that I have, it is just not possible to keep re-telling the same old, every time a different doc comes into the practice.

I always make another appointment when I leave my doctor as no other doctors will give me my pull pain relief prescription.

Molly went to see one at our regular clinic and while there asked for a prescription and he wanted her to make another appointment. Just ripping people and medicare off.

I got a discount because I was a senior and paid $10 excess which was a good deal. Now told I will be paying $25 excess.

The AMA is a lot to blame as they limit the number of new doctor being trained and will not allow overseas doctors to do extra training to bring them to Australian standards. Cheers Robert

It does mention in the article that the time waiting to see a doctor didn't look at the number who either rang direct to speed up the appointment or saw another doctor or went straight to the emergency dept.
Could this be part of the added strain on the countries ED doctors we hear about so often, a flood of additional cases that simply can not get in to see their regular doctor in a timely manner and the problem degenerates to the emergency stage .... could this also be adding to the ambulance crisis we hear about so often?
Maybe it isn't the public hospital system breaking down but rather the whole medical system failing to cope and this just puts even more pressure on the public health system that can least handle even more work coming their way .....

Maybe a bit of push back on the AMA if what Roberts says is the case, the AMA creating the problem with their restrictive practices ....... must be pun week

Well re the ambo service, That guy that did the police mail bomb "Dominic P" he decided to "faint" when he got back to his cell and poof there was an ambulance there before you could blink and got straight into hosp. The jail systems have Drs there. Why waste all these services on that prick and a faint is not an emergency. And then there was that halfwit from yesterdays police chase along the freeway he got an ambulance visit as well or would that be show in case it would of been called racist if one wasn't seen to be getting medical aid??

If I could get an appointment with my GP in the Victorian “average” of three days I would think I was in heaven!
It’s a regular occurrence to wait FOUR WEEKS here.
If I’m willing to see whoever is free soonest it takes only THREE weeks. And I have to recite my medical history every time… well, the edited highlights of the past 28 years, at least.
I have resorted to taking a printed history I drafted to take on the road in such situations. Saves my voice and the Doc’s time asking redundant questions.

Ray, after I give them my printed out, potted medical history, they still ask so many useless and unnecessary questions. Sometimes, I wonder where they were trained, but usually, I wonder why they need to know such crazy things. :o
