Anyone watch Mirror Mirror on 10 last night?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Anyone watch Mirror Mirror on 10 last night?

Post by T1 Terry »

Todd Samson did a 2 part special, Mirror Mirror, and the first part aired last night ..... It's a window into the dark side of the interweb and how they are brainwashing people into getting more and more addicted to their phones and social media via algorithms that hone (or home?) in on what you view and link more and more of that type of material into what you view. How the "like" button is designed to drag both the viewer and those producing the content down a path that they may not have taken otherwise.
He links the sound to a response much like the Pavlov dog sound conditioning experiment https://www.simplypsychology.org/pavlov ... 20response. where the tone of a response being received on the phone triggers the need to read it ......

Scary stuff, if you haven't watched it, I recommend everyone to watch it, it does explain a lot regarding the social issues we are now facing, including the conspiracy nutters .... they may just have been brainwashed to the point they don't realise they are the ones being lead like sheep

Can only totally agree with you Terry, but just look at the younger and a lot of older generation in a café or in a car , glued to their phones   and don't talk face to face.

Saw part 2 tonight and it's even more scary. It would seem that many are being controlled by these logarithms and basically don't realise that the phone/computer has taken over their tiny minds. It was a very sad show showing how teenagers are using the web to bully others and how there are softwares that can manipulate any picture from anywhere and make it look like a porn star or rude nude. This has been used to ruin people and stop others from getting work. I hope the pollies watched this one. We need to start acting on this now and not wait for a whole generation of people being brainwashed by google.

Not sure it's just Google, it seems to be all the tech companies, big and small. There was the Dot Com bubble many yrs back, but they didn't have the software these players have today, they are making billions out of people's gullibility. As Todd and others said on the program, it's not just saying what you want to hear, these algorithms have learned enough from their cause and effect routines, to up the level of what ever path you are on to keep you coming back to see what's new and drag them even further down the #rabbithole I think they called it. Doesn't take long before that break with reality has become so wide that the "conspiracy to hide us from the truth" really takes hold and there doesn't seem to be a path back for many.

Sadly, all those we labelled as "conspiracy nut jobs" are actually just victims of this whole $$ generating path these tech companies have built over the yrs.
I never realised these companies skimmed off the online financial support the bloggers and "influences" get from their viewer base, along with the advertising attached to each You Tube viewed .... and at a rate of 20% one of those interviewed told those watching the TV program .... I bet they don't tell their social network viewers that ......

What seemed to be barely touched on was the possibility these hate bloggers that drive some to ending their life or at the least, really emotionally scaring them, could actually be computer generated bots and not people at all .....
