River level at Loxton
Photo of the flood tree at Loxton taken a few days ago. The "experts" predict it will reach approx. the 1993 level and the locals think it will be closer to the 1974. Time will tell as it is still raining in the catchment area and it is all heading down towards T1's place.

Re: River level at Loxton
The '93 mark seems to be a regular one as far as high water marks go, the '74 flood shows as 12.73 mtr at Loxton but only 3.14 at Mannum .... although the biggest flood in Mannum appears to have been the '56 flood and that is recorded as 5.36 mtrs .... the difference is between standing in water under foot to way over my head and my finger tips just above the water level .... so if it does reach the '74 level we will still end up with a water front property me thinks

Did anyone learn anything from those floods? You are safe enough John.

The river level at Mulwala is only about half a metre or so lower than the lake level. Usually it is 7 or 8 metres lower.
If they get they 50mm or so that some forecasters are saying is coming in the next week, then there will be a few more places with a waterfront outlook.

Do a search on the 1870 flood. That would be very interesting. But that was a 1 in a 150 year flood. Hang on , how long ago was 1870.

It’s fortunate that the Corowa Football Club shares its grounds with the Corowa Rowing Club. At the moment the football oval is an excellent training course for the rowers.
Across the road, Ball Park CP’s cabins all have exclusive riverfront views… right at the doorstep!
Grantham Bend campground, across the Murray in Wahgunyah, is under about 1m of water. Happy Hour campfires would seem to be off the menu for now.

Re: River level at Loxton
Spent the weekend moving and securing next doors floating pontoon .... only to get an email complaining that she wished I'd contacted her first because she already had all that in hand .... like everyone is hanging up behind the door for her while she is in Adelaide and has no idea how fast the river is coming up
Seems the way photos are seen on the forum has nothing to do with how they were added, enlarged into it's own tab, the photo goes completely upside down.
Anyway, spent Sunday morning, with the neighbourhood flood group that has all joined forces, filling in wash-aways in our escape track behind the local houses and to the top of the hill, then it becomes the farmers property apparently and because it isn't at the emergency stage, we can't continue any further to see just how driveable the rest of the track is
Sunday afternoon was a full spread "sausage sizzle" at one of the organisers house, no idea how anyone is going to better that event without having it catered and a full table service affair
No one really has any idea now just how fast the water will come up, the wind blowing up the river is making this level higher than just the flood water, but if it doesn't drop and then we get another strong wind up the river .... we might be launching the boat from the driveway At least we got the Kombi out on Saturday and drove it up to the workshop .... had to tow it for a bit to get it running ... yet another starter rebuild coming up I guess.
