WAS CRAPPY news NOW GOOD news Re. Ray aka Greynomads thread

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Jeeeze you boys, one standing on his head, and the other controlling the diaphragm while breathing, I was out of breath trying to figure that one out.

Nah, drinking beer standing on my head used to be one of my party tricks. You just have to learn to tip the glass a bit slower. Enough distraction, any update on Ray yet Dot?

David would it help if we held you up by your feet so you could down a glass. Nothing from the lad this arvo so he is either asleep or sitting outside with the girls.

TARAAA!!
I'M BA-A-ACK!

Had a short revisit to the hospital.
When my favourite nurse asked why I was back, I told her I couldn't resist the excellent food.
She almost had a severe case of hysterics… she was aware of my opinion of hospital food. They have a special knack of making a wide range of meals inedible! Even plain scrambled eggs!
The reason for the sudden revisit was Atrial Fibrillations in the heart, apparently fairly common after major surgery.
It was only three days but it felt like an eternity.
This time, Joy brought in some home-cooked food for lunches so I didn't actually starve. A gold medal for SWMBO!!
Still, between my initial admission and yesterday when I returned home, I have lost 5.5kg… only part of which is attributable to the removal of 2/3 of my large intestine. The rest is the Hospital Food Diet.
At least the surgeon reckons he's removed all the tumour and the suspicious bits which could have grown into more tumours. I didn't want him to install a zipper…
Atm I'm shuffling about like an old man, but getting better at navigation. I can almost walk a straight line down the hallway now. Only slight deviations from the compass bearing. Better than when I came out of hospital the first time. :)

Thanks to Dottie for keeping you all posted on my progress, and to all of you for your good wishes.

Looking forward to getting back OTR soon, however that may be mid-year according to the Doc. Erk.
Discharge instructions included "no lifting in excess of 5kg for the next six weeks." That means I can't even grab the six-pack of longlife milk for the supermarket trolley!
It's going to be a long recovery.

Bernie,

Perhaps.
But mainly a reflection of the fact that, to obtain groceries at a reasonable price (as compared to the only supermarket in town) we have to visit our nearest German-franchised supermarket 48km away.
We save more than the cost of fuel to get there — even if we use the diesel Isuzu. ;)
:)

So only small glasses of Durif for the next 6 weeks? And someone else will need to operate the heavy bottle for each refill? A big ask Ray ....

Glad to see you are back with us on the keyboard, a set of lithium batteries and we could have sorted that heart problem on the spot
