Australian Trivia Only

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

OK, history buffs, here's one for you.

The NSW and Victorian governments jointly offered 8,000 pounds for the "capture or destruction" of the Kelly Gang.
It was shared among 66 people.
Who received the lion's share of that loot, and how much did they get?

Ray, I think the answer you want is Supt Hare. His share of the £8,000 reward was £800. I found the answer in an archived report of the Victorian Parliament 1880-81 Very in depth read if you have any interest at all on the subject. Over 100 people laid a claim to part of the reward. Only about 70 got a share. The report lays out each person's claim and why they considered it justified. Some were just laughable.

Correct, David!
You obviously went to the same source I did.
(And I couldn’t find the Pound symbol on my phone keyboard! 😥)
Your turn!

Here we go Ray ...
Press and hold the ALT key and type the number 0163 to make a Pound symbol.

On my Samsung phone all I did was hit the !#1 key under the shift key and it was there.

Anyway, at the first modern Olympics an Australian bloke who was probably really English, made his own way to the games and competed in a few events.
What was his name and what sports were they? Bonus points if you know his medal tally.

Ummm... Bruce,
It pains me to tell you that Apple pooters don’t have an ALT key. They have a COMMAND key with a symbol which looks like a 4-leaf clover crossbred with a #.
I tried all combinations of that with the Shift, Contol & Option keys.
£ comes up on the phone keyboard when I tap the number/letter key then Shift. Just can’t find it on the pooter keyboard.
I’ll have to search the Word Help file... I know there IS a keyboard shortcut which produces it directly without resorting to keycodes, as I used to use it when I was working with UK-sourced manuals. I’ve just forgotten that key combination.

Well, everyone,
It’s been a while since the last Oz Trivia question was posted here...

So let’s revive it now.

Where is this bronze dog?
And why has he been immortalised in bronze?

I thought it may have been the original dog on the tucker box but it has a collar and tag, so that can't be right. Then I thought it might have been red dog, but wrong breed. So , I will have to follow the next few comments with interest.

Was it immortalised due to its' ability to cling onto a sloping surface? :)
