We have a modem from Testra that has a 4G sim card back up if the land line goes down.
My question is, Can I take the modem with me and use it via the supplied sim card when away from home ?
Of course I wont be able to have a land line ( that much cable is just too plurry expensive to think about )
It would be lot cheaper than using the prepaid telstra modem I usually use as I have to pay the Telstra account whether I use it or not.

You would need to find out if it was fixed to certain tower, or free roaming. it will be interesting to see what the answer is, it seems the NB is so poor if still using the old copper network that all new modems have a sim back up to cover the drop outs. We don't have any drop outs since we ditched the NBN fixed wireless and fix wireless to base at the workshop in favour of the mobile used as a phone and mobile hotspot. Certainly reduced the total cost for phones and internet, the mobile plans for our 2 phones share data so we never run out and phone calls and texts are unlimited.

Yes Ron.
Is it an old Billion 7404 model? (one model only)
I still have one here that I haven't thrown out... yet!
You can set it up to 'fall back' to 3G or even run on 3G all the time. It has WiFi distribution too so many devices (laptop/smart phone/iPad etc) can hook up to it as well.
