today is your lucky day, i do have an inverter connected to the 12v system that is charged from that alternator.

So the inverter is powered by the 12v alternator or the 24v alternator? what is need is a method of either turning off the charge when the battery is full, or equaling the charge with a load, so the battery doesn't get over charged. A lithium ferrous battery is fully charged at 13.8v, or all 4 cells at 3.45v, the problem is the charge voltage must be higher than 13.8v to create the current flow required to charge the battery, but once it's full it's full, so then the charging needs to stop. the Commodore alternator charges at 14.4v, you can't just suddenly cut the circuit from the alternator to the battery when the battery is full, that will blow the diodes in the alternator.
Do you have a storage hot water tank that a 1" female nipple could be weld into?

The 12v alt charges two 450 cca starter batteries, this system powers all accessories in the cab, i run the 1000 watt inverter off that system. From that i could run a 15 amp projector 3 stage charger, or any other.

No hot water yet, one day an instant gas unit.

That would make a system that's far too complex, a lead acid battery charged by an alternator to power an inverter to run a battery charger to charge the lithium batteries to power all the house stuff. Leave it with me, I'll contact you via PM with a possible control method that remains easy to work with.

Terry would an air conditioner electro magnetic clutch do the job?
Most cray boats have one attached to a pump for deck washing purposes.

The problem with that is pulley size, the alternator needs to be spun about 3 times faster than the crankshaft to produce a reasonable output at normal engine speed. I think electronic trickery is probably a better solution.

That brings back memories, I started to make a ( cruise control) for our bus,MH It was made from the said item with a wire hooked up to the pedel and a spring pulling it back, when you were at required speed turn on switch. dedarr . had a breaker switch on the brake pedel and cluch. still have the bits some where!! never got around to fitting...
But the idea looked good at the time, my foot use to get cramps holding it flat to the floor..

Thanks for asking, due to a lack of funds and a divorce, all high dollar stuff is on hold. been doing on line surveys for points to redeem for bunnings gift cards, that keeps me in ply, insulation and paint so i am lining the inside.

The dust should settle by the end of april and then maybe i can get back to it.

Trevor.
