Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, another day of four seasons in a day? xxxx
Ray, good thought. I will offer the wood around and see who is interested.
Today the weather was so intense that I cancelled my Newcastle appointment because of the dangerous driving conditions and then went back to bed. No kiln firing, it was way too wet early in the morning to run down and turn it on. Later in the day, when it had calmed down a bit, I cut enough fancy earrings to please a mate who requested specific glass to be use for her collection. I guess they will get fired eventually.

Early night for Dot...night mate xxxx
Busy day here. While the rest of the world is worrying about the yanks, our local council has gone belly up and administrator has been appointed. Not a good result for us and while the press are full of that issue, other important things are happening in the wings and not coming out to see daylight...like the re-zoning of our tiny airport, has just been sneaked through parliament without any notices to us, until much too late to have our impressions heard. So it has been a very political day around town here.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
There hasn't been a word about tha in the press or on TV up here at all. Usually the news people have a field day with that sort of stuff. The council must have been a bit naughty for the govt to have appointed an administrator.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
The amalgamation of councils and privatisation has not gone as the politicians have claimed it would. NSW amalgamated councils are now deep in debt to the tune of well over $1 billion, just anther example of the quality of the people we are forced to elect.

NP,
For once I agree with you!
Ditto in Victoria.
eg. Rutherglen Shire was a debt-free council.
Dear J Kennet forced an amalgamation with Beechworth and a few smaller (also debt-free) shires.
Indigo Shire is knee-deep in debt and 70% of rates are spent on Beechworth, location of the council chambers & residence of a majority of councillors.
They got a Council grant to build a $250,000 Men’s Shed, and a further $250,000 for tools & equipment... Rutherglen Shedders had to apply for a Federal Govt grant of $70,000, which almost paid for the building (minus the concrete base), and hold firewood raffles etc to fund our equipment.
