Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dotty xxxx

Robert, I wish I had your optimism. The kiln has been delivered to the kiln doctor. Of course he was way too busy to get on with it while I waited (not what his wife said when I booked it in ), and it will be expensive like all toys are. I am not expecting to get a lot of change from the grand that I have stashed away to pay for it. Good thing I have been expecting it to need work, so have been saving for a while.

We have decided to start being normal in our plans for next year. So I have spent a lot of time today filling in forms to apply for Glen Innes and Armidale gem festivals in March. Each of them demanded a covid safe plan to be with the forms and that took up a fair amount of time. I really cant see us doing much more than hand sanitiser on every table and accepting cashless transactions (for an added fee). The most important bit, is that I will display the gov supplied covid safe sheet that says we have a plan! Truly some of this is just so tedious and pathetic. Has anyone found the pill for common sense yet?

And Deborah

don't forget the mandatory extra table out in front that you have to lean over to pay.

or, your plan could simply be to adopt the plan that the festival is written.

Good to see you back in the right place now Dot. xxxx

Robert, I have to take back what I said about cost. The kin man sent me an email today saying it should be ready for collection tomorrow afternoon and the grand total cost will be less than $400. Considering that I bought the kiln second hand, many years ago for $300, it doesn't owe me a thing. After this bill, I have spent roughly $1000 keeping it up and running. Not bad for something that I suspect was made in the 1970s and has had a hard life. A replacement kiln will cost quite a lot more than that.

Last night we had another huge electrical storm and a ton of heavy rain too. The computer stayed turned off, so it was quiet around here for you lot. We only had 3/4 of an inch of rain, but it was loud n heavy while it lasted. Because the kiln is out of action, I declared today to be a holiday. My workbench is covered in things waiting to be fired, so no room for any more projects to be started. I slept in and did very little during the day. Back to whatever normal is, tomorrow.

Are the stitches annoying you Dot? xxxx

The kiln man rang today, to tell me that it worked yesterday and is refusing to work today. Being temperamental is why I took it to him. So now it's back to the drawing board and he is trying another tactic...bet that involves more of my hard earned.

I am loving popping these light globes    Reminds me of what my shed sounds like on therapy days!

Been another very quiet and domesticated day here.

Dot is it itchy? Stay sane-ish mate xxxx

Keith, you're right about popping the lights in colour sequence. It is really therapeutic.

Robert, I spoke too soon. Turns out that the controller can't be repaired so now I am up for $1,300 for a replacement controller. The only saving grace is that , if I ever get that new kiln built, he will build it it so that the controller can be used by each of the kilns. I dont have enough power in my shed to fire two kilns together, so having only the one controller makes sense..sort of.

Had a busy day here and then finished off with a Christmas party with our progress group. A long night, but a good one.

night all xxx
