Wahgunyah/Corowa dump points

Post by Greynomad »

It appears that this is one of the less popular pages ... no new posts since 2016!

There is a new dump point on the outskirts of Wahgunyah, on the left as you head out of town to join the Murray Valley Highway. Looks like just an open paddock from the bitumen road.
Large open area, so big rigs can access it from either direction. However, be warned that the gravel track can be soft after anything more than a shower.
Public toilets on the other side of the track, in the park area. Done up to resemble a steam train — sort of.
I’ll try to get some pics to add here soon.

Corowa has a dump point at the footy ground next to the river, but it’s difficult for big rigs to access, as the turning circle is limited.

Finally had the spare time to stop en route to Corowa...
Here’s the pix of Wahgunyah’s dump point.
(No close-up, cos we all know what they look like!)
Entry is on the Rutherglen-Wahgunyah road (the turn-off from Rutherglen-Corowa Rd), opposite the Main St (Distillery Rd) intersection. The road loops to the right beyond the dump point, and rejoins the Rutherglen-Wahgunyah Rd, so the dp can be accessed from either end.

Building on the left is toilet block with picnic table under shelter at the other end. (It’s built in the shape of a steam train cos it’s on the land previously occupied by a now-defunct rail line. Picnic table is in the ‘loco’, toilet in the ‘coal tender’. Rail trail runs along the back of the park area, to the left of photos.)
