To fit external aerial for ph ??
What aerial would people suggest for better reception for the mobile ph (4G) and also the computer when we are out woop woop ?? The Telstra shop man told me today that I would have to connect to the phone after removing the back of the ph if we fitted an external aerial on top of the bus ????

Can't help with Telsta stuff. I did hear of an external 'gadget' for mobile phones that was basically velcro wrap around the phone & wire to arial. (not plugged into phone as no socket)
On an Optus USB dongle I can plug in a small arial or a bloody big one that'll receive from Moscow!! (almost!)

Depends on your phone Dot.
3g can use the old CDMA aerial which is the one I had on my bus. Really improves the reception but no good for the new 4G.
With mine I have removed one of the aerials from the home modem and inserted the CDMA arial.
Have to be careful using four letters starting with "C" but I think I typed the right letters.
For 4G you need a special areal.
Regards
Brian

Not all phones have the ability to have an external ariel plugged in. The local telstra shop should be able to help, they do have a current blue tick model that accepts an external ariel. The other option is to skype via the internet dongle, most of them are set up for ariels. I have a bracket on the side of the motorhome, but will be putting a swivel mount on the roof to get maximum height

1) the response depends on who's on duty, the day of the week, what they had for breakfast, if they had breakfast etc etcDot wrote:

2) ... after removing the back of the ph
2) some phones come with external access to an ariel connection - just ask, "which BlueFly, oops, BlueTick phones have an external connection?".
The antenna I purchased did NOT improve reception, but that may be due more to sourcing it off eVileBay, so it ended up in an Alice Springs dumpster. dawg

Dot I think you need to point to or explain which phone it is you have?
AllPhones are very good with independant advice. Another good place for advice is any business you may have in your area that fit hands-free installations in business vehicles. (Stock agents, transport companies, plumbers, electricians etc) Ask your local tradie where he got it done?

I installed the Telstra black broom stick ariel. Amazing the places I can get internet signal where there are no service signals.

I agree Peter but if she has (for example) a Nokia C2-01then there's no where to plug anything into.
Not all phones can accept an external aerial.
