Re: Good morning daily
Congratulations Jon, do you think the motor is better now than when you installed it?

Re: Good morning daily
Thanks all.
Absolutely. Terry...... but I will know next week.
Remembering it was a grey import.
When I measured everything, the measurements came in on the maximum wear. (as per the Isuzu WSM).
The head had a >8 thou warp.... Banana length wise and left to right slope in the middle. Guides, valves, seals all worn. Rings were caked into carbon. Piston grooves too. Crank bearing and thrusts were running out of metal, same with conrod bigs.
Injector nozzles were shot.
I've done 38,000 since fitting it about 13 years ago (and then, the few few years were runs just to Taggerty.) ... should good until I turn 80.
Cost: A little over $4500. In the scheme of things, I'd much prefer to spend this now that have to do it an a few years time

Re: Good morning daily
Do you think the motor was probably due for rebuilding when you fitted it, or did something trigger the down hill slide?
Today ended up being move the Winnie so I could empty the tanks, that was eventful enough. managed to somehow get the wire wrap concertina hose under the inside rear wheel, just pinched one side, but after so many bits needing to be cut out because of leaks, the macerator pump and hose locked onto the waste outlet will need to be wired in sooner rather than later.
The body decided that was enough for the day, neck is still giving me a hard time so tomorrow being another day clause was evoked.
The V10 did start and run without a sign of a miss in the exhaust note, who knows, but I'll still replace the coils because I have them and they are an age related wear item.

Yep, just worn out. Smokey for the first 10ks.Do you think the motor was probably due for rebuilding when you fitted it, or did something trigger the down hill slide?
Started to develop a very slight miss, and the blow by puff was in time with a big hissy sound in the engine. (At first, I thought the hissy sound was the fan belt making those typical rubber fan belt rotation sounds.)
Plus, I've got a 6000 k trip coming up and want to not worry about it.
Will be interested in seeing if the EGT's have dropped after the injectors are spaying better.

Every chance the injectors cause the other wear issues. Washing the bores and diluting the oil.jon_d wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 8:07 pmYep, just worn out. Smokey for the first 10ks.Do you think the motor was probably due for rebuilding when you fitted it, or did something trigger the down hill slide?

Good morning.
It's a bit fresher this morning, was only 12 degrees inside so will be around 4/5 outside..I have the Fire going, up to 16 and climbing
herself will probably complain about being too hot when she gets up
.
I spent most of yesterday sanding...I sanded the stain we put on.... Off again... weren't happy with it... keeps me busy
..
Carol has a App that comes from the hospital telling her what and how many exercises to do for the day... finally got one that sez not to do them if it starts to hurt..
I think she has been overdoing the exercises
...
No real plans for today... cept for the gardening...
Keep safe
Bernie.
I just checked the outside temperature... it's 2 degrees..

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning everyone. We are on a quick trip south to do a welfare check on Terries mum. She sounds a bit vague on the phone, so we are going for a look. Left home at 4am, down past Coffs Harbour now. It was 3⁰ at Halfway Creek an hour or so ago.
We are in the Xtrail. The Winny is having a rest, this trip.
Safe travels everybody.
